Sorry I didn't quite know what to title this post as ... but while I was logging onto Paypal today I came across this image. If the link takes you to the homepage, just hit the 'personal' tab.
The image I came across was identical to the image used in this stamp set
Which made me wonder where inspiration for stamp designs comes from originally? I am not saying this is breaking any laws or anything, as I am certainly no expert in this area. But I was just immediately struck by the similarity of the images even down to the skirt, the shape of the couch and even the way the legs are crossed! Even how the image cuts off at exactly the same place on the left as the stamp does.
Just wondered what other peoples thoughts were on this?
I am not certain what you are getting at... I tried your link... hit the personal tab and I see NOTHING that is even remotely like what you are referring to.
I just noticed it immediately, maybe because I had been doing a few cards with this image recently and it is one of my current faves
Or maybe the fact that I had even coloured my couch the same colour made me notice it even more. As soon as I opened the website the image jumped right out at me because the scene looked so familiar.

Ditto, the image I get is a valentines ad on a login page.
Well, I can't see anything in the paypal link that looks like the MFT image, but I do seem to recall reading that those images are from a designer who has a much larger line than just the stamp images at MFT....things that are out in the "real world," lol...not just the stamp world.
All I see is a V-Day ad with two lovers staring into each others eyes. But I know exactly what you mean. I'll be surfing the web randomly and all of a sudden I'll see an image that is without a doubt a direct copy of something else I know of.
I'll see stamp designs that are so similar to other more popular ones, I wonder how they get away with it!
Not sure why everyone can't see it. The PayPal ad is a woman lounging on a sofa and the stamp is the EXACT image...same sofa, same leg placement, same general clothing, same pose, same computer! Amazing that you spotted it. My guess would be that the stamp mfg copied the photo, which is generic enough that it probably would never end up in a copyright fight.... though it would be close since it's nearly a mirror image. The stamp mfg could have reversed the image or placed a cat on the sofa or changed the style of the sofa to avoid pure plagiarism.

We Americans can't see it because that link takes us directly to Paypal US, where currently there is a display of two people looking at each other. Those of you who can see it are being linked to non-US Paypal site.

The paypal image of the girl in the chaise lounge is exactly where Shannan got her inspiration for Who's That e-Girl? The drawing itself was not used as inspiration, but the concept of the set inspired our set. Does that make sense? Most of the things Who's That Girl? does are inspired by things we all do, or want to do more of! Of course she does it smartly dressed and in heels... Inspiration can strike anywhere!
