Hi all! I'm hoping you can give me some suggestions on how to post some items on the B/S/T board. I asked this on the BST rules thread but haven't received a reply yet
I am trying to do some "purging" as we prepare to put our house up for sale in a few months. I have a large tub filled with stamps I purchased from Michael's from before I became an SU! demo and have not touched since. What do you recommend as the best way to list these? Most of them are single stamps so they are not part of a set of any sort. Should I just stamp an image with each one and attach a file to my post? I assume I cannot post a photo of the stamp itself because of copyright rules.
I would list them priced individually but offer a "lot" price if someone wants them.
I'm not sure what copyright laws would be broken by taking a picture of the stamp- seems like taking a picture of just the image would be "worse". (Isn't that why the indexes in the gallery were made to look like cards).
For me, the easiest listings like this to browse are when the seller posts a link to a separate website like picture trail or something like that, where all the photos are located. Usually if the seller has several stamps to sell, they will take group shots of six or so stamps (index sticker up) at a time and list the prices below the pix.
You can do something similar on SCS by attaching pix to your posts to show the stamps, but you can't caption the pix when you do this, and you have to make sure your pix are 640x480 in resolution.

Good point! I don't think I'm ready to make THAT many cards

If you take individual pictures, host the pictures somewhere like Picturetrail. SCS only lets you post 3 pictures per post. I love it when someone is selling items and they have a picture of everything. You can post an ad on www.scrappertalk.com - click on MARKETPLACE - you can post anything stamping/scrapping related from any company. You can include as many pictures as you like. I would put a price per stamp and offer the stamps individually first...one person may want a bunch of your stamps. After a week or so of having them up, what single stamps that are left, offer as a lot if you want.
If you post your items on Scrappertalk - I would post the link in your SCS ad. I've had good luck on scrappertalk. I've found some great stuff on there too. :-)

Personally, I don't like to buy groups of stamps unless they are an actual set. I'd much rather buy this stamp and/or that stamp and I don't mind paying postage for one stamp (as long as I have the choice to pay first class or whatever).
I'd rather see each stamp listed individually for sale.
Don't forget to have potential buyers send you their ZIP code in their initial contact with you so you can figure out what the shipping would be to their address - it sure saves time for YOU.
I like having choices when it comes to shipping too. First class, Parcel Post, Priority, Priority Flat Rate. When I see that someone only offers Priority Mail shipping, I tend to move on to another post. Why would I want to pay $4+ when First Class is a little over $1? (Well, unless I need the stamp NOW.) I also move on to other posts if someone offers a flat charge per set for shipping. That bugs me too.
