Does anyone know how to do this without wrecking the ribbon? I've tried scissors and the anywhere punch and neither seem to work very well. Any suggestions?
I have also used my craft knife to just make a small slit in the ribbon. I'm usually using a brad through the ribbon so that fits through a slit easily. I don't have any better advice than that, though... hope it helps!

I usually use brads, too. I resorted to just pushing the end of the brad through, but it was pulling the ribbon, causing white streaks. I'm using SU grosgrain ribbon, BTW.
I tried to do a search and didn't find anything, but I'll check out the link provided as well. Thanks for the suggestions -- I think I'l try a craft knife!
I've used fray check where I plan to have a hole, let it dry, & then use a hole punch to make the size I want. If I'm just using a brad, I'll make a small hole with my paper piercer first.

I know this is from 1.5 decades ago so no longer relevant but you just taught me of this very helpful thing called fray check.

I just got rid of my Fray Check, because I never used it. What are the odds? lol...
I guess I must be a more dedicated hoarder than you because I still have my Fray Check, It's great for ribbon ends, to prevent fraying. Now if I just used ribbon...haha!

I got to where I just used a lighter to lightly heat up the ends of the ribbon, and that worked for me. I was leary of using the Fray Check, as they said you had to be careful using it around animals, as it was toxic to them. I don't remember where I heard that, but my cats like to get into everything! I try to keep things put up that could hurt them, but wanted to be super careful.
