Default Is PTI a slippery slope?

Slippery slope meaning once I get my hands on some will I want more and more?

I just placed my first order with PTI, I got lots of ribbon and some of their color collections, and also First Fruits for my Thankgiving table settings, place cards and such.

So am I gonna love it, will I be back for more? Is there anything I need to know about their stamps inks or papers? I am guessing I will need some acrylic blocks huh?

Thanks

Erin

Ummmm...yes!!! LOL!!!! Their paper and ribbon are absolutely superb!!!! Now that they have white, ivory and brown, I won't be buying any more from SU, I like the weight of the paper, it is top notch quality. I love the stamps too!!!! Best clear stamps available in my opinion!!!! Just run an eraser over them before stamping for the first time and you will get beautiful images every single time!!!! I have also purchased their acrylic blocks, love them, how they fit in my hand. I think I am only 1 set away from the second anniversary set, so yes, I am addicted to them!!!!

Yes, in a good way! I love and use only their white paper and have a couple of stamp sets. Excellent quality. I wish my budget would allow for buying so much more. . .

I love the paper and ink since it matches(the big reason I signed up with SU). I also love the ribbons and other accessories. I am not a huge fan of clear stamps for whatever reason, but I do have around a dozen of their sets just because they were unique and I really liked them.

I think you're going to love it - I've placed a fairly large order every month since February (when I discovered it) and LOVED every bit of it. I'm even thinking of getting the rocking blocks in my next order, even though I have a pretty good block set already - they just seem like they work really well! I love their colors (Pure Poppy is my current favorite, surprisingly - I've never been a big fan of red) and their ribbon is to die for. I have every color in the twill - it's so versatile!

That's OK - it stands for Papertrey Ink. You shouldn't go look but I'll give you there site just in case you want to, hehe They are a newer company but are going all out, with 110 lb. paper, ink and ribbon to match. Also, great acryllic stamp sets all top quality. Shipping is the only thing I have a problem with especially to Canada.

Enjoy

Nothing you need to know. You will need some acrylic blocks -easily available at your LSS, Michael's, Jo-Ann's, etc. I love PTI - especially at the holidays, I think the Christms & Halloween sets are da best. First Fruits looks like a beautiful set - if I actually did any Thanksgiving entertaining I would have definitely bought it. And the Palette inks work really well with clear stamps.

You will love it, the quality is great and they come packaged so nicely.

All that being said, I don't buy everything. I ended up not buying anything this month although I thought that I might. I love that Ocean Tides but I'm going to wait until I have a $50 order (for free shipping). I almost bought Silent Night but I already have so many flourish stamps that I don't use. But right now I've been using a lot of Boards & Beams and Spooky Treats II.

Be sure to post pics!!

You're going to love PTI's stuff! It's totally wonderful. I've only bought the white, ivory, and kraft papers 'cause I have all the su papers and inks. But as for stamps, let's just say I qualified for last year's free set (you have to buy 12 sets over the year to get it) and I've already qualified for next February's free set. What's cool is I USE them all!

www.papertreyink.com

And even if you don't buy, visit Nichole's blog (the link is at the very bottom of the page)...there are fabulous ideas there for everyone and links to some incredibly talented people!

The stamp are the epitome of clear design - a lot of elements to combine as you wish. And just beautiful styles of stamps! Great quality.

I absolutely love their cardstock - the weight, finish and colors. And the ribbon is luxurious and gorgeous.

Wonderful products ~ and yes, quite the slippery slope, I'd say! Have fun sliding !

I just went and checked out their website. I have to say I am pretty impressed with what they carry. I have a love affair with SU! products...I like being exclusive, and that is not because I am a demo. I like it all coordinating. However, if I were starting fresh I might enjoy getting some of PTI's coordinating items. Not a huge fan of acrylic stamps, but I am about to go look at some of their designs.

I love the stamp sets and will easily qualify for the freebie set this year. I also love their colors of ink and paper but am sticking with SU for several reasons. First more color selection, second I have a ton of this stuff and it is great quality. Lastly, 50% of the time when I get paper from PTI the corners are bent and it has been a giant nightmare to get it replaced. But I do love the stamp sets-they are just perfect for cards and the designs are superb. I reach for them often.

PTI's stuff is quite dangerous for your wallet The website, gallery and forum and product are first class! Their stamp sets are like legos for stampers, there are so many possibilities, one life time would not be enough to exhaust them all.
So yes, I think you are walking on dangerous ground LOL...

I LOVE the PTI paper..it took some getting used to at first because it is much thicker, even than SU...but it holds all of your embellishments, etc. perfectly and makes your card stand up so nice, hee! I have a few of their sets...First Fruits really is beautiful...and the Guide Lines set is super fun to play around with!

PTI, Hanna, Bella, SU, CTMH, TAC...all unique and fun in their own way...but if you are on SCS, just hang on tight! There are so many brilliant artists, fun personalities and incredible information, it's too late to look back now! Basically, if "SCS" says it's good, I try it...and regret a single quip yet. Yay!

Since this is your first order with clear stamps, here are a few tips:

many of them are teeny tiny. be very careful to put them back on the sheet/cd case as soon as you use them. you can't leave them around like wood mounted. well, you can, but they are hard to see and easy to lose.

clear requires a different amount of pressure. get good blocks -- I like the kind from apple pie and from close to my heart. just don't buy blocks that aren't really clear. practice.

once you ink them up, they never really look clear again. so be careful to really clean them -- most of the time I keep stamping on scrap paper to be really sure. I like the fact that they stain. easier to see! PTI's stamps come with a tip sheet on cleaning and worth reading.

LOL! I liked being exclusive, too, because of the matchy-matchy stuff. But SU's classic inks work just fine with PTI's stamps (though chalk or pigment or hybrid inks do work better). I have stayed away from the colored cs at PTI, simply because I have every one of SU's colors--purchased about a year before PTI got started. But I predict that in a year or two, I'll cave and start getting their cs, ribbon, and ink, too...as I use up the colors of SU that I don't particularly like.

I was afraid of Clear too, now I am a huge fan of PTI. I don't buy everything. But I do love their CS and Ribbon.
The down side for me is I wish they had thinner ribbon (meaning not so wide) like SU's stitched) and I have so much SU! Cardstock that I don't buy all colors. But their white, ivory, etc.... just to die for!
It's a lot of fun.
There are lots of clear companies though... it gets overwhelming! GOOD LUCK! and have fun on that slope!

All of the sets are wonderful, and you can mix and match. When I first began stamping, I bought individual stamps, and then found that nothing went with anything else. I like SU for the same reason. I like the style of Papertrey. Eileen

In my non-professional opinion... ...it's not PTI or SU or Unity or CMTH or TAC that are the 'Slippery Slopes'...

It's SCS!!!

I never would have seen any of these other companies if it weren't for this place!! But who doesn't love sliding...the slipperier the slope the more fun it is right???

My SU money now goes to PTI. I just ordered several sets and some cardstock. I like the versatility of the designs. It never mattered to me before if the stamp was clear, but now I'm used to it and I like being able to see where I'm stamping. Even if the clear stamp is stained, I can still "see". I also love the ribbon selection and the free shipping when you spend $50.

Yeah, I have found the few times I have tried clear stamps they just haven't stamped well with the classic inks. I came to the conclusion on my own that they would probably work great with pigment inks. Problem is I dont have any pigment inks, except white. Don't have a use for it....well, I just dont reach for that style...though it would be nice to have that darker ink for some things. There are ways to make due however. Being that I mostly make cards, not worried too much.

BUT good to know that some of the clear are better than others.

tried to place an order and they were out of too many items. I finally purchased their whiter paper everyone loves and was disappointed with it. Too thick and coarse feeling--kind of like cheap construction paper. I love the smoothness of SU's white cardstock! So I am not yet a believer! But I may be someday!

I love PTI products.I am now addicted to clear stamps. You can actually see where you are stamping your image. Their service is great too.I was a SU only kind of stamper, but I was very disappointed with the new catalog. Also with PTI they have free shipping over $50 and no sales tax.I can buy more stuff with this saving. Plus my order is delivered to my home and I don't have to wait for my SU demo to deliver it.

Luckily I got into PTI before I ended up buying a bunch of SU. Actually I pretty much have no SU, because I just started stamping in February. I order PTI with every new release. I don't buy a lot of stamps, (I think I have 5 sets) but I LOVE the cardstock and patterned paper.

I'm sliding fast on that slippery slope!!!! Wanna know how fast?? I placed two free shipping orders less than one day apart this release this month! I think I must have been delirious! I'm really enjoying them though. And no matter what, you/anyone should check out Nichole's blog (owner of PTI) as she has some fabulous ideas with great tutorials and links to her design teams great work as well! (Although.......doing that is what made me take that first step and begin my slipping!:>:>:>) Have fun!!!!
