Default What do you do?

I see all the wonderful challenge cards, and have to ask. what do you do with all the cards you make? I know I can't possibly use all the cards I make, and I know some I don't even want to part with. So what do you do?

One of our SCS sisters (and maybe others), Rox71, has these websites posted in her signature. I've "talked" to her, and she has a very kind heart for children and soldiers; I believe these sites send cards to people in need - a sure way to brighten someone's day while cleaning out the card inventory!

Our church sends lots of cards to the congregation ie. birthday, sympathy, getwell etc. so, when I have more than I need...I pass them along.

My church has a missionary closet and the ladies who stamp keep it supplied with cards for them to take. We can never have too many THANK YOU cards.

Take a look on the home page (lower left) and you'll find a link to the SCS Stamp Your Heart Out cards for troops campaign that Sereikastamper has been running for the past year:

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

There are specific requirements, but she accepts both cards expressing support and blank cards for their use.

Default What do I do...

I give some away (not as many as I should) , use them for family and friends (again, not as many as I should) , but mostly, I make them to sell at craft shows. I love the RAK & soldier cards...really makes you feel good!

I have been using the challenges to make cards relating to projects I have to complete (ie. someone's birthday coming up, RAK's that I want to send), and most recently for my sister's birthday, I bought one of those pretty photo organizers from Wally World and labeled each folder according to theme and made her a card organizer with homemade cards. Now my mom wants one, so I have even more to do. There are always projects on my plate.

There is also Keri on SCS... (aka: sereikastamper) She sends cards over to the soldiers. She has sent 1,000's to date! It is such a wonderful thing! It gives the soldiers options on cards to send to family members on special occasions.

Very wonderful cause!!!

Ditto. I'm always needing a card for something, so I just use the challenges to make that card with someone in mind.

I am a member of several online communities... I send the cards as RAKs (random acts of kindness) to my online stamping friends as well as to people for birthdays, anniversaries and thank you cards. The list I do it most often for is the list I am moderator of which is a group of Canadian Stampers (http://www.canadianstamptalk.ca to see some of our stuff or http://groups.yahoo.com/CST to join)

I put backs on all of my front only cards (make these w/ white cardstock) and along w/ others I have made and don't need and package them into groups of "a year of cards" usually 25-30 in a batch and donate them to my childrens school and a local preschoool for their yearly auctions. It is a great way to clean house and to help out at the same time. I called to get permission from SU since I am a Demo. They said it was okay since I am not recieveng any $$ for them.

Default Raks and flat rate savings

Christie, Thank you for such kind words.
I dont do the challenges but also keep enough on hand so that when I see a post for a RAK it's handy to send. I can't send to every one I see due to postage cost but I never pass up a child if I see it.

Also if you're sending a box it is worth your while to go to the post office and get the flat rate box and send your package for 7.70 for up to 70 pounds. I mailed out to Keiki last week, the clerk said it should have cost me about 20.00 and it weighed a little over ten pounds. The box I sent a few weeks ago was three pounds heavier than Keiki's box. I like saving that kind of money, which also means I can send more!
You must pick up the box at the post office and there is no charge until you are mailing it. It comes in two shapes and the square style is better for cards. Always make sure you fill the empty space in the box so the cards dont shift around and get damaged. Trust me its a real let down to open a box of cards and find them damaged beyond use from shifting around in transit.

Think of card making as fun hobby for you to make someone smile!

I use them almost ALL for church stuff. I try to send cards to people on the prayer chain, the sunday school teacher of the week, the pastor of the week (our church has a ss teacher and pastor to pray for each week), the missionary of the week, etc...

I don't worry too much about giving them away. Its a nice way to learn new ways to make cards and just a darn good excuse to make more !! hee hee

Challenge cards go right into my vault for upcoming events. They're especially valuable when something sneaks up on me or I don't really feel like breakin' out the ink (gasp!!)

Talking

I do a variety of things with my cards and samples. Mostly a lot of my cards go to my customers, and then I participate in online rak communities and my cards go there as well. I also sell my cards online and offline. I also send cards to my downline. So my cards are always on the move! *smiles*
