Default What is the best size for invitations?

I am going to be making some invitations for a bridal shower. I will likely print the text on the card stock from my computer, and stamp the images. I am thinking a regular size card (5 1/2 X 4 1/4) will be too small to hold the text or it will all look too crowded.

What size have you found works best for invitations?

Thanks!

I've not made invitations, but from a postage standpoint, if you keep it rectangular (vs square), and 8.5 x 5.5 or smaller (if it fits in a 9x6 or smaller envelope), you could still send them for 41 cents each.

Are you planning on a "postcard" type (quarter sheet, done on one or both sides)...or a folded card type (8.5 x 5.5 folded in half, images and text on fronts and inside)?

I have done both...on a postcard type I put images on front and text on back, and it worked fine. This is the front:

I didn't post the back but it was the typical "you're invited" type of thing.
BTW, this card is actually just under 4 inches wide, because I made a mistake in cutting and didn't want to recut!!!

The full card type can have your images on the front, and text inside. There should be plenty of room in there, I would think.
