I know I have asked 2 other questions today. I just now got the guts to ask. Now the other thing that I have been wondering is...can I put the VersaMark refill into an empty cartridge? That would allow me to VersaMark with my wheels. I have just got into them and they are fun. Thank you so much for your time and support.
It took me about 1/4 to 1/3 of my Versamark refill to fill it up to saturation. But then I noticed a week later it needed more, so I just put a little bit all the way around and it worked like a charm. Then I was gonna demo it at a workshop and tried it out the day before and it seemed to be dry. So I waited until just before the WS and when nobody was paying attention, I refilled it again. Worked like a charm!
I only use it a few times a month now, so I just automatically top it off first.
I keep the cartridge in a ziplock to maintain moisture (I live in the desert)...but I noticed that when I refill it, it tends to leak a little.
Not sure this is normal behavior for VM cartridges, but that is my experience with it, lol!

P.S. Ask MORE questions! We won't limit you to two a day That's what we're here for!
What's the difference between this and the Embossing ink cartridge shown in the catalog. Does that one work without having to be refilled all the time, 'cuz that sounds messy.
I refill my versamark ink cartridge every time I use it, but don't find it to be messy. I love it! Don't add too much, just enough to get the coverage you want. I would be guessing that the difference being the VM leaves the watermark image and you can emboss, but the embossing cartridge is just for embossing.
My Versamark cartridge leaks too, so I keep it in a bag just to contain the goo. I love it though! I've watermarked, embossed, and done poppin pastels with my wheels. Gotta love that Versamark!

Does anyone have experience with the embossing cartridge that agentil mentioned? Unless that cartridge is tinted, couldn't it also be used for watermark, etc. the same as Versamark?

My experience with the embossing ink in general, is that it initially leaves a watermark, but soon evaporates leaving nothing! For that reason it's a cool way to make journaling lines, but otherwise can't think of any reason to use it. I'm a Versamark girl all the way!

Adrian,
I got the embossing cartridge with my kit. I finally opened it yesterday. I used it on a card for a background & it disappeared! I refilled it with versamark & it works much better! It does take a lot of the refill ink & you have to be very patient waiting for it to work itself into the pad, but it's worth it! I have a cartridge for both size wheels now.

Thanks Suzanne! I've sold a couple of those to customers thinking it was the same as the Versmark, now I will know what to tell them.
I was glad to have the tip on the disappearing journaling lines too. That's something handy to pass on to my customers.
The embossing cartridge will not leave a watermark - it will just leave a mark wet enough to dump some embossing powder on it. After a few minutes it disappers.
I bought an empty cartridge and a versamark refill and have been using that for watermarks with my wheels - the trick is before you use it to ink up the cartridge really well and let it sit to soak in - i.e. don't ink it up right before you want to use it.
