SU Blender Pen Problem
How fast do your Blender Pens dry out? I've had mine only since March and haven't used them all that much and now they seem dry! There was one that I hadn't even used that was dry! I tried to use them with my pastels yesterday and wasn't getting much color at all!!

Do you think they were defective? If I call DS would they replace them (I'm a demo)? I really want to be able to use them - especially with the AquaPainters on backorder (mine were ordered mid-August, so who knows when I might get them).

I would call DS and see what they say. Mine dried out a few months after purchasing them, but they went through several workshops and stampcamps...not to mention personal use.

I've had mine for over a year and am still on the first one. I have only used them with markers, for watercoloring, and with the watercolor pencils, though. I think I'd give DS a call.

I don't know if this works but I've had good luck with my markers and blender pens staying juicy. I make sure to store them flat, same as with the markers.

My experience with Blender Pens is similar to Sue's... my pens are over a year old and still fine! I find that the tips wear out before they dry up.

My blender pens dried out super fast, so I refilled them. I did the glycerine, water, alcohol refill recipe.

CreativeDiva 09-06-2004 08:10 AM

Do you have that recipe?

I agree, my pen dried up very quickly as well but then I got the recipe and I have been refilling it ever since. Works great.

Make 1 oz
1/3 glycerin
2/3 distilled water
1/4 teaspoon alcohol

There it is, good luck.

One thing you can do with the dried up pens is use them for beaching. Just dip the end in bleach, and color with it.

That is a great idea, about the bleach. Great use of an old pen. Thanks.

Thanks for the recipe and the bleach idea!

This is my own personal opinion, and I might be wrong, but I think that the blender pens tend to dry out faster when used with chalks.
I think the chalk tends to absorb the liquid in the pen.

But thanks to SCS I can refill my own pens!

Gotta love this site!

How do you refill the pens?

AndyJoe 09-06-2004 04:29 PM

Just take a tweezer and pull the white tip out, fill and replace the tip. They sell tips in ACMoore, I am not sure if they fit the blender pen from SU or not. I have SU blender pen and Dove's blender pen. Dove's blender pen, you can order tips anytime you want, keep different tips for different colors or techniques. I ordered it online and really like the fact that I can do that with the tips.
So just pull the white tip out and your set to go.
