Stamping on Napkins

Has anyone tried with success to stamp on napkins, and if so what did you do? I was thinking of all those funny little saying you could stamp on plain napkins to give with a bottle of wine as a gift.Thank you.

I have a friend that stamped a baby deer on napkins for a baby shower. She used brown Stayzon which I had recommended to her. I had never tried it before so I warned her to try it out on a few before the shower. She told me it was very easy to stamp them and they came out great. So try a few, use them at a real meal situation before you use them on a gift. And search around here for ideas for a nice wine bottle tag to put on the wine bottle.

can I ask why you suggested stayzon? good idea to try out before giving. as for the wine tags I am way ahead of you in that I have been making these for a couple of years, and it just occurred to me to try adding napkins to the mix. Thanks for the suggestions

I haven't done this, but did a little internet research on the technique. Looks like folks have used pigment inks, archival inks like Brilliance, and Stazon with success. They say to stay away from dye inks, as they will bleed on people's hands and faces when used.

Also they said to use the heavier (3 ply napkins) for the best results.

I saw some wedding napkins that used Memento ink that looked good.

Sounds like a fun project.:)

Here is a google search link with images. Most of the images are pretty simple. It might be harder to do quotes with lots of lettering.

I suggested Stazon because just like Bugga said, you don't want the ink to come off on hands, My friend used the nicer heavier napkins like Bugga suggested too.

Paper or fabric?

Stazon is not recommended for use on fabric (although it's an issue of it having the potential to degrade the fibres of the fabric over time so if you're stamping something that's not intended to have heirloom potential it's probably OK!).

My go-to ink for fabric is Versacraft - nice range of colours, good coverage on both rubber and clear stamps and is designed for use on fabric and other porous surfaces. Just heat set it with your iron once it's dry and it's permanent, no worries about it coming off on people's skin or putting it in the laundry. I've used it successfully on heavyweight, linen-textured paper napkins too (quick blast with the heat gun for those just to ensure it won't run on anybody's hands).

HTH!

I have used Black StazOn and it worked great! Like others have said, it won't run or rub off on anyone.

thanks so much to all for your generous suggestions. I did some further research and read that Ranger Archival ink is good for All mediums And will not bleed when wet. I do not have any but think I can get my hands on some for a Trial run.
