Ok - I need some opinions here. Up till now I've been too cheap to purchase the sponge daubers - my thought being a set of 12 sponge daubers for 9.95 vs a set of 3 sponges that I can cut into 12 segments for 3.50 - I've always gone with the sponges. However last night I was trying crayon resist and suddenly decided I should have 48 daubers (one for each color). OK - so I'm a little extreme - all or nothing.
Want to know what others think. Do you use sponge daubers? Are they worth the extra cost? TIA!!!!

I have about 12 of them...I really like to use them with my pastels. They are easier to use then cut up SU sponges or I even tried cosmetic sponges just to see how they worked.
Depends on the effect I'm looking for and the size of the area.
Hope this helps
well i am another conservative buyer okay a bargin shopper...i didn't want to part with the money for them either... let me tell you the honest truth what a difference they make on projects...they give you a totally differnt effect...
i ended up buying them so i could use my plaid makers...i don't have the foam attachment for my brayer yet...
i bought 6 at a local shop for about $1 a piece.. they are a dream... i wash mine out after each use and so far no problem...
there is a little staining on them but it doesn't affect the use of them...
if i was you i would either go a head an buy them or at least pick up one to try... i like also to use them with the pastels...nicer control than the sponges for coloring in....
though i won't give up my sponges for sponging color onto an edge of c/s though
Thanks so much for the feedback. I hadn't even thought of using them with pastels. Also I didn't think they would hold up to being cleaned (that's why I thought I needed 4.
Anyone else with opinions or tips please keep them coming!
I have 12 and use them for all my colors. I have a yellow, light blue, darker blue, etc. When I am done I kind of stamp them out so teh color is really faint that comes off, bu the sponge itself is stained. Then the next time I need them I just choose the darkest color. It has worked pretty well so far.

Oh I must be a sponge dauber addict! I have one for each color and they have little address return labels with their color name on them! I have a friend who has one for each color for ink and chalks! I love the little guys! They all fit in one drawer of a small 3-drawer unit on my stamping area. I use them so much and sell my customers on them all the time. They fit on the end of your finger so nicely.
I LOVE my daubbers!!! I use them with the pastels, just GREAT for poppin' pastels, and with ink! I have 24, but have not used all of them yet. I dedicate each one to a color group (i.e. pink, red, green, blue, purple, etc) not to a specific color. THis works great and I have not problem with color mixing, I just stamp the daubber a few times on scrap paper to clean...although sometimes I am a fanatic and will run it under water to clean.
Once you pop one on your finger you will NEVER go back to the sponge for small jobs the dauber can do! The effect is worth the money! BUt I do not think you need 48!
Yes Christy they are hollow. They remind me of giant TROUBLE pieces with foam on the ends. My daughters are always putting these game pieces on the ends of all their fingers and acting like they have fake fingernails! Hey, maybe they are on to something!
I love my sponge daubers. In addition to using them for inks and chalks, they work well with the Pearl-Ex techniques too (such as the Heat and Stick with Pearl-Ex). I don't have 48, maybe just half that and I rinse them out and use them over and over again. I love the control you get by being able to put them on the tip of your finger.
You NEED these LOL! Plus, you'll sell them when you start demonstrating them and then they'll pay for themselves...
Guess I've gotta get 'em...12 at least to start. That's what's so great about this site...any potential purchase can be justified in minutes :o :o :o Thanks to everyone! Love SCS and all of you
