I made one of those adorable journals (Thank you Lana!) for my Son's kindergarten teacher. I volunteer in the class, so I was able to trace each childs hand on a separate page. I am looking for a poem of some kind to put on the front page...Any ideas? Thank you in advance for any help!!
I wish I had seen this post earlier. I was looking for exactly the same type of poem to put with my daughter's Pre-K gift to the teacher. Oh well. I have saved it in my favorites for the next time.
I've been working on my son's preschool teacher's gifts and needed a poem or two. I found this post from a year ago! I thought I'd bump it up just in case anyone else needs them. These quotes are awesome. Thanks Cathy!

Here's the one that I used on the teacher's cards for Teacher Appreciation Week:
Forever In Your Heart
Although you're not their mother
You care for them each day.
You cuddle, sing and read to them
And watch them as they play.
You see each new accomplishment
You help them grow and learn.
You understand their language,
You listen with concern.
They come to you for comfort,
And you kiss away their tears.
They proudly show their work to you,
You give the loudest cheers!
No, you are not their mother,
But your role is just as strong.
You nurture them and keep them safe,
Though maybe not for long.
You know someday the time will come,
When you will have to part.
But you know each child you cared for,
is forever in your heart!

I've made several teacher scrapbooks over the years and have collected quite a few poems that are total tear-jerkers! I'm sorry I can't quote the original sources on them ... perhaps someone else will recognize them:
Quote:
This is a little poem to say
Thank you for the loving way
You take care of our little ones
Our little daughters and little sons.
You focus on each tiny frame
And know the needs that fit each name.
And as valuable as the teaching you do
Is the receipt by a child of a hug from you.
You do special things each day
To help each child in work or play.
Your attention to important issues from the start
Endear you to each mommy's heart.
So, thank you Ms. XXX for the way
You perform your job each day.
I know that it's more than just a job to you
For your loving nature comes shining through!
Quote:
My baby started school today,
A first big milestone along the way,
Hes not a baby, oh no not he,
As big as any in the class, you see.
Till now Ive been his shining sun.
My influence has been equaled to none.
But now Ill share his work and play,
Im lending you my child today.
Quote:
This is just a simple note
To say thank you from the heart
It is not an ending
But really just a start.
For years you've taught our kids
And you touched the hearts of those you've met.
This little book is to show you
That those who love you don't forget.
Our prayer is that it blesses you
To look upon each page inside
And know that when we say "Our Teacher"
We say it with love and pride!
Quote:
To My Teacher
A substitute for working moms,
She comforts, pampers, soothes and calms.
With all the love she has to share,
She's great to have when mom's not there.
She loves to rock a fussy child,
Corrects the one who gets too wild.
She hears her share of tearful pleas,
and comforts those with skinned up knees.
She is an expert at each game,
but somehow loses just the same
She helps them learn the alphabet,
and gives them hugs when they're upset.
She is a true and trusted friend,
who helps them learn and play pretend.
Although she's paid, it's plain to see,
She serves them with a love that's free.

WHOSE CHILD IS THIS?.
"Whose child is this?" I asked one day
Seeing a little one out at play
"Mine", said the parent with a tender smile
"Mine to keep a little while
To bathe his hands and comb his hair
To tell him what he is to wear
To prepare him that he may always be good
And each day do the things he should"
"Whose child is this?" I asked again
As the door opened and someone came in
"Mine", said the teacher with the same tender smile
"Mine, to keep just for a little while
To teach him how to be gentle and kind
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school"
"Whose child is this?" I ask once more
Just as the little one entered the door
"Ours" said the parent and the teacher as they smiled
And each took the hand of the little child
"Ours to love and train together
Ours this blessed task forever."
