Question If you bought it, did you use it...

Hodgepodge Hardware, that is!

SU!'s retiring the old finishes and coming out with new sets, but did you actually, really truly USE your old HH?

I bought the pewter and aged copper finishes not long after they came out, and I just noticed yesterday that most of them are still sitting there, unused and feeling very, very sad. Needless to say, I shall not be buying the new ones...

How 'bout you?

Yes I use them. At first, I didn't. It was like I didn't want to use them up or something. But I made myself start using them a little at a time, and now I love them. I love the buckles for ribbon and the really cute paper clips. I like the little things that you hold on to the card with a brad and can tie ribbon on or hang a charm. The word plates are great too. I haven't used them as quickly because I'm really OCD about the word 'fitting' just right in the word plate. But I definitely use them. If you're not going to-send them to me!!! LOL!!

I use the styled silver. Never bought the ones on sale right now - I find then homely.

I hoarded them for a long time, but I have forced myself to use them. I LOVE the Styled Silver!

I have used bits and pieces of them. Mostly the clips and brads.

I use them when I remember I have them.

I did get the silver and split it with a friend and used almost every piece, love that finish!

Not yet, but I'm thinking that if I DO use them, then that probably gives me an excuse to order them again while on sale....for surely I will NEED the ones that I'm going to use, right?

I only use them occasionally, and I stocked up on them. I'm a hoarder of just about anything embellishments and ribbon and use them all sparingly. I think I just like looking at them!

I just barely got one; I do use them, but only on cards for my husband. I use faux-hardware stamps for everyone else... selfish of me, I know.

Slight hijack... how does everyone attach labels to the label holder??? I have been using Crystal Effects as the "glue" but would like to know if there are other ways...

I use them---selectively! I already had 1 kit and just ordered the other 2 finishes (since they're on SALE). Like others have mentioned---I'm a hoarder!

I use them on my cards. There are so many in the box that I still haven't used everything. I guess there isn't a lot of repeat business on this product.

I think there are more frames, and they're a little different (for instance, there's a round one...love it!) I like the silver set better and really hope it makes it into the F/W catty!

I've never ordered them, because I KNEW I would hoard them! I did just treat myself to a set at the discount price, though. Wish me luck in using them!

I'm by nature a hoarder of everything; but I have used some of it and have been buying more since I know it's going away. I beleive they'll still offer the silver and maybe, maybe a gold??? I like the pewter though really well and fell in love with the silver - both shapes and colors!

I've used some of them, but have to admit to being a hoarder as well. It really has to be something special!!!LOL I certainly don't need more unless I do pry my hands off of the ones I have and let them go on a card. Then I could justify buying more, right??

A couple of months ago I discovered I was a collector and went on a "stop buy". I went a whole month (egad) without buying anything. That's when I started using my hardware and I love them. In my second month of my self-imposed stop buy I did buy a few things ($40) but I'm still shopping in my craft room and using all the cool things I have. So just maybe, I'll need to buy more - ah, the joys of collecting. I think I need the silver so I can color them with my permanent markers.

As for adhesive, I like tombow metal glue better than crystal effects.

I use the Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive. I just add a very little amount along the inside rim of label holder (the back), then I flip it over and put in the label. I flip it over so I can make sure that the words on the label are centered.

Funny I have done a similar stop by on crafts and on groceries. I imposed a no more new food items until the frigdge, freezer and pantry have been purged or used. It was kind of like camping with odd combinations of cans of corn used in casseroles and hashbrowns as crusts but as things became "bare" we restocked selectively (just how many cans of tomato do you need anyway) and we saved money in that we didn't buy new items during this time :-D

Back to OP - I am a hardware horder but like "stamphappy" I am forcing myself to use what I have. It has been pretty fun like a SCS challenge to use what I have on hand. Now will I order more Hardware in the sale hmm not sure depends on if I can ebay a few older stamp sets then maybe!

I've had my HH for over a year now and have used very little of it. I find that some of the pieces are not so easy to figure out how to use. A few months back there was a challange to make 3 cards using the exact same paper, stamps and accessories. I pulled out my HH and tried to find 3 uses for one of the buckle pieces and it was really hard for me. I picked the piece that's just a frame, with nothing to thread through or obvious way to attach things. I spent about an hour pouring through the catty to see if it was used in there as an example and I couldn't find a single thing using it. Anyway, in the end here's what I came up with:

hello trio by kaloso05 at Splitcoaststampers

So, I guess my answer is that I don't think I will be getting any more. I will try to use what I have, but when it's gone, it's gone for me.

I use mine for personal use..they don't have enough of any one item to do a stamp camp with (I have about 20 attendees monthly). I did use the bulk buy ribbon slides when they were offered! I do love to use the hardware but will only do it when bulk purchasing is offered..

when I used the ribbon slides I sold 3 of the hardware kits at that camp! (I made examples of other ways to customize the colors in the slides for show and tell) so I hope more bulk opportunities come up with the new catalog

I have used 3 boxes of them, 5 of the pretties kits. I do not hoard. (dh doesn't complain about what I buy if I use it, if I hoard, he gets a little grouchy)

Of the three original finishes, I found that I reached for Antique Brass the most often. But I love the new stylized silver, and my guess is that SU will reissue the HH kits in this new configuration (keeping fingers crossed!).

p.s. Julie, you are the queen of emoticons! They crack me up!
