Question Cuttlebug. Is it a must have?

I have been seeing a lot of this Cuttlebug lately (used with card samples on blogs) and wondered how often people used it or if there was another more spectacular version out there?

Omigosh, I couldn't live without mine! This is one tool that is so easy to use and so versatile that I don't see myself tiring of it anytime soon. My Sizzix machine sits unused, but the Cuttlebug is active and I LOVE it.

If you can get one from Santa this year, you're gonna be one lucky gal!!

I would buy it again even if I didn't have a single die for it.... I think it's worth the price (use a 40% off coupon or from Creativexpress.com on sale) just for the embossing folders alone...... Those are soooooooo fun.

On sale, it's just a little more than a cropodile......

It's the only die cut/ embossing machine I have ever owned, and I certainly use mine a lot!!! It gives so much texture and interest to card layout ( I only have the embossing folders). I find myself turning to it again and again!!! I have a cropodile, never used it, well - I can think of a lot of tools and things that I have , but of those, I probably use my cuttlebug the most!!!

I purchased with a 40 % of coupon at Micheal's - and I think it was totally worth it!!! But like all stamping things - it's a want - not a * need! * But I do love mine!

Ditto. Actually, I DON'T have a single die - I only have the embossing folders. I love them!

I can't stop using my cuttlebug! I don't make anything anymore without using it somehow. I do have the whole set of nestabilities and am using the dickens out of them too. All my Christmas cards, all my gifts I am making all use the nestabilities and cuttlebug. I am totally addicted. I can honestly say that after 15 years of stamping, there is NOTHING I have used more than my bug. It just puts a nice, professional finish to all my projects. Did I mention that I love it? I have had 3 friends buy it since I showed them how wonderful it is. I would give up a lot of things in my stamp room to keep this baby.

By the way, for those cuttlebug users out there, I use it so much that I am on my 4th B plate! That is how much use it has had.

Yes buy it! I have some bug dyes and embossers but use the nestabilities all the time.

The only other one I would consider is Spellbinders but Cuttlebug is more affordable and available.

Just got mine this morning I wanted to compare it to the bigkick and I say yes it is worth it! I am keeping both because the cuttlebug will be much easier to take to swaps since it folds up.

Default bug

I just got mine two days ago and I have only used it to make a couple of samples. I can see where you can get totally addicted to using it. It's so simple to use and the results are awesome! I read a lot about it and wanted it for months, but then I saw the thread on SCS about custom crops special price and I took the plunge. I don't think I'll ever regret it. I only have a few embossing folders - so far! I am so impressed with the ease of use and the wonderful results. I have ben on a tool buying binge lately. I bought the Scor Pal, the CAD, the ATG and the bug - can you say Merry Christmas?

I really like mine. I have some quickutz dies and I hated their old hand tool. I use them all the time in my cuttlebug. I just ordered the nesties and I can hardly wait to use them in my little bug.

YES!

it is pretty cheap...you can get lots of embossing folders for them (very cool for neat textures) and you can use the nestabilitiy dies in them......

definitely a must have..imo!

I am so glad that I purchased my Cuttlebug. I had a 50% off coupon so I think I paid about $35 for it. I, too, only have the embossing folders. I've purchased the folders on sale at AC Moore when they were 50% off (like this week) and paid $2.50 each. I agree that the embossing folders add so much character to a card. My 6 year old son had a ball this past Sunday 'helping' me!

You know I held off getting one until I got my nestabilities. I didnt think I would like it or need it or want it since I hadnt done a lot of dry embossing in the past.

But I was soooo wrong!

I LOVE it for the nestabilities but I have also loved using the embossing folders with it! I actually started to wonder why I waited so long!

It's the same way I felt about eyelets. I stopped using them because of the hammering and used brads. Then I got a cropadile and it changed everything.

Get one....they are fun!

I think it is just another option in our growing hobby. Some people will love it, some can do without. I personally have no desire to have one. I'd rather stamp a BG... but that's me.

What's BG?

I'm new to these shortened phrases, some I can figure out straight away and others I haven't got a clue! I know as soon as you tell me that I will feel silly! But it's bugging me

I know what you mean about it being yet another option in our growing hobby, I just HAD to have the Cricut and since I bought it I have not been scrapbooking so much I have been making cards so it is just sitting there gathering dust :(

I really do like how the cuttlebug makes your cards POP though!

Hmmm, I'll think about it some more.

I feel like the scrooge as I wouldn't say it is a "must have." I do own one, bought it last year around Thanksgiving for my birthday. I have probably used it 10 times. I am using the snowflake embossing folder on my xmas cards. My Nestabilities are arriving soon. Honestly, I really don't use it that often. It started to be a money sucker in the beginning as you want all the goodies to go with it. I have three alphabets which I have used a handful of times to make the few scrapbook pages I did. I think you have to evaluate your spending style and needs. I did regret buying mine for awhile as I felt like I was constantly spending money - coupon or no coupon - it is still money.

I bought my Cuttlebug last year and I use it on almost every card that I make. I feel like something is missing without the extra texture that the embossing folders give to the card. I have always used the SU BG stamps to add a little something, but now I also Cuttlebug the stamped BG!!
My Bug sits on my stamping desk within arms reach! The new emboss folders that are coming out next month are super! IMO the folders and dies run cheaper than some of the other systems out there.

Aaaaah...Back Ground! Of course! I knew it would be something so simple when I heard it!!!

So is Nestabilities better than the cuttlebug? A few of you have mentioned it. SammyStamper why are you buying Nestabilities if you don't use the Cuttlebug much, what draws you to Nestabilities??

I need to research into Nestabilities I think. I'll look into it tomorrow. Thanks for all your help and info ladies

After having it for almost a year (I think??) I can still say that I use it almost everyday - I love the tiny flower and shape die cuts I cut brown paper bags, felt, odd material - even ribbon for shaped embellishments. You can always buy new shapes and folders so it is always changing and never gets old or outdated....

I love mine, especially the embossing folders. I created all my christmas cards using it. It is amazing how each tool that I own is useful for me to use on cards and scrapbooking. For instance I used my Expression to cut out the frame then I embossed with my cuttlebug then stamped the sentiment inside with my acrylics. I love my stuff!!

I use my bug a lot; didn't invest in any bug alphas because I use my cricut to cut letters. The bug dies and embossing folders add WOW to projects. Use the flower dies to cut chipboard to make those cute jumbo clips that are used as bookmarks! Lots of projects can be ehnanced by using the bug and its folders and dies.

IMHO, nothing is a must have. Really. I have one and like it but my life as a card maker would survive without it!!

I received mine at a birthday gift and love it! As has been said already, nothing is a "must-have", but this is definitely a fun novelty. The price is decent for both the machine (w/coupon) and the embossing folders. Easy to use. Portable. I have not purchased many die-cuts, but the prices seem better than Sizzix. There is also a thread in tools and products about the CB. That may help you with your decision.
