Altoid tins...What can I use to remove...
the date-stamped info on the side of an Altoid tin? Is their a product that will remove this so I can keep my tin gold? (the cinnamon tin)

Also, what are you guys doing (if anything) to hide the writing on the bottom?

I spray paint mine so the writing isn't a problem. I'm not a fan of gold, I prefer copper, so it hasn't been a problem. I tried nail polish remover and 91% rubbing alcohol, neither worked. I know the stuff they use on those is fairly strong, so it may take a lot to work that off.

I also paint over mine, so it's not an issue.

Well, I guess I goofed, then. I versamarked the top and put two layers of gold EP. It looks good, but now I don't think I can paint over it.

Oh well, I have others.

Thanks, guys,

What kind of paint do you guys use? A special metal paint?

You can just glue ribbon around the edge to hide the writing. I also paint mine - with spray paint. So far I've done copper and black with speckles (the speckles came because I spray painted some other things other colors and got overspray  but turns out the speckles look great!)

what do you use them for?

sand to distress them and then used stazon
Ie just taught a class and made a distressed look tin by sanding to give it a worn look and then rubbed green, black or mustard stazon over it not covering completely. Then stamped with stars. Looked great!

Made a 5 page mini book to go inside. Also they would be beautiful gift boxes for small items like jewelry
