This may not be much but you could do the origami lucky starts and put them in there. Decorate the bottle and give them to someone as "happy" pills.

Or you could fill them up with nice little notes to give to someone when they're down.

Or if you needed some extra storage, they'd be great for holding beads, glitter, confetti, etc.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the great ideas! I have many of these empty bottles, also!

The bottles should be sterilized if you are giving them to anyone because the residue inside could be harmful.

Most of my medications are in plain round prescription bottles. But I had a couple from Target that are in these really cute bottles that would be perfect for the "Happy Pills" idea. Unfortunately, I tossed them. Hmm... maybe my next thyroid refill will be from Target.

Decorate the outside and put some thread, needles, safety pins, and buttons for a purse size sewing kit!

In kindergarten we had a bunch of pill bottles and for about three years on Mother's Day we made a cool gift for the kids to take to their Mom's.

Place empty bottles on a cookie sheet and have kids put 6 or 8 beads and some glitter in their bottle. Melt in a fairly low oven until they melt down into really funky shapes, the clear plastic melts to the beads and holds it all together. When cool, glue a craft brooch pin on the back, and voila, a brooch! They looked really cool.

So maybe you could donate them?

I found this website for other uses, though.

I decorated pill bottles and put quarters in them - I gave them to high school grads for laundry money..

There are some good ideas here so I want to save this thread. I'd also like to add that I use them for small traveling sewing kits. I've made them from time to time and decorated them with trinkets to make them prettier. I put needles; a small amount of black, white, red, blue thread wrapped around a small piece of cardboard; a few safety pins; a needle threader and the like. They are nice to have in your desk, your purse, your suitcase, your craft bag, in the diaper bag, in your car - most any where you might need something like that.

You could also put bandages and a small tube of antibiotic ointment for a first aid kit you could use in so many places.

Didn't you worry about any fumes being released from the melting bottles? I didn't think you were supposed to burn plastics and such in like an outdoor fire because of fumes released from the melting plastic products. Anyone know for sure? The idea sounds really cute, though.

A lady in our church choir works for Hospice and they use them somehow -- not sure quite how but any that have the child-proof caps can be used whether prescription meds or aspirin or things like that. We remove our prescription info and give them to her. Am sure they do lots of "cleansing" before using them but that's a possibility if you run out of craft ideas.

They don't take long to melt and we put on the fan above the stove. I suppose there is the issue of toxins but, really, for the few minutes it takes, plus no children were present when we did that part.

I probably am a poor one to give my opinion on that, because I burn a lot of waste to save on hauling to the garbage, and if it gives off fumes, well, they don't last long. (Ozone layer people would probably like to hang me!)

I LOVE this one!!! Really cute idea for a bridal shower, if the bride has a bit of humor.

His and hers earplugs maybe too! How about anniversary gifts!

Cardmaker2, you brought back some fond memories. Many years ago, when my son was in kindergarten, he made me a necklace with a melted prescription bottle. No glitter or beads, but it had a thin gold cord for a chain. I still have it!

Okay, on a more serious note I was going to suggest this idea;

Using a longer type bottle I put some bandages/ a wrapped cough drop/one rolled tissue in my smaller kids back for just-in-case at school. It's light and keeps them dry. This way they can still carry them and they won't get mushed up if they never needed them.
YOu can label on a name or phone number too.

Depending on who you pack this for you could make a mini medi kit in case of emergencies.... ie a couple of tylenols / allergy pills or lifesaver candies or throw in enough loose change for a bus trip home( not the cross county fare!) or a phone call or photocopy....

YOu are so right! You could use it after for a Chrismas decoration for the tree every year! The kids got to pick what they thought their mom would like or what her fav colors are.

My neighbours tree is decorated with her child's special creations that they made in school. My own children rarely had durable ones.... I guess I should start that tradition myself at home.

What a great idea, mayjoynstamp! I never thought about using it as a Christmas ornament. I could shorten the gold cord and it would be ready to go. Better on the tree once a year than in my jewelry box forever, never seeing the light of day!

I like the bus fare or the phone call. What a good idea. IT might be something that could be packed and sent to our troops too. Or for family members who are at the Ronald McDonald Houses. This would be very nice for those families.

Default Recycle them

Bring them back to Walgreens so they're recycled. I was thinking of melting them to make a pumpkin for fall

You know, I was perfectly happy to not save prescription bottles.

Now I may end up with a full stash going forward thanks to this thread!
