Please pray for forest fire ravaged city in Alberta
I know this isn't the local church prayer chain. But I know many of you are people of prayer and I want to ask you to pray fervently for a downpour of rain and a change in the wind, weather, whatever it takes.
A northern Alberta Canada city named Fort McMurray has been in the ravages of a massive forest fire since Sunday. Most of the city has been destroyed, 90,000 people evacuated and close to 2000 homes and buildings have gone up in flames so far. You can only imagine how huge this is. An area approximately 400 square miles have been burned as of this afternoon. High winds and tinder dry conditons have only increased the speed the fire is traveling.
Thank you for adding your voice to the thousands of Albertans and Canadians praying for rain. Nothing else will stop this fire, the experts say.
It's just terrifying. We had something similar here and I know the anxiety everyone in the area feels - it's just awful. My heart goes out to you and those affected.
Such a sad and horrible situation. You have my prayers.

Not only have they lost their homes but their jobs a businesses burned as well. It is shocking to see abandoned cars that ran out of gas on roads, from people trying to outrun the fire. Dry weather not only in Alberta but east of there as well. Please pray for rain.

We need the rain in Alberta now!! I don't think they can put the fire out without rain! We got a shower in our area yesterday but not in Ft Mac. So hard to watch that beautiful city burn and they can't stop it no matter how hard they are trying. Praying for them all and for the the firefighters who are putting their lives on the line right now. Stay safe!
I'm praying for rain to stop the fire and praying for the safety of the emergency workers and firefighters. Also remembering in prayer all those who have lots their homes and businesses.

Thank you all for your kindness and caring, most of all for praying. What I hear tonight is that the wind direction has changed somewhat and at least burning in uninhabited bush. It's forest all over up there. So that is better. Still burning out of control and nothing but rain will stop it. Rain is in the forecast for Sunday. God be merciful and send the rain!
It sounds like the rest of the city is relatively safe now. Convoys of people who were stranded north of the city are now being escorted through where the fire has past, out to the south and safety. This is a very isolated city with one hi way going through so get hard for people to get out. So it's good that those who had been evacuated but still stranded can now get out.
