I've seen the sammies done with chocolate coins. They can be hard to find though. HTH

I looked at the mini Reese's cups the other night at the store.. I don't think that the kids would like the peppermint patties either.. at least when I asked my 10 year old son if he thought they would, the look I got explained it all, so I passed on buying a bag to make some for them. I bought a big box of Fun Dip treats so I'll do something with them.

Those are cute. Out there somewhere is patties filled with caramel instead of mint. Of course the name escapes me now..... but it's worth looking- since there are so many candy isles filled with an assortment of things right now.

I think the Reese's Peanutbutter cups would make perfectly acceptable (if sorta chubby) spider bodies.

My non-crafty MIL made spiders with the mini peanut butter cups last Halloween- they were sooooooo cute!

Those spiders are super cute! I am going to try making them to go on the lids of the mini play dough containers as a candy alternative - and yep - all three of my kids are not impressed with mint candies, either.

Default spider sammies

Please be careful, so many kids are alergic to peanut products these days.

I would avoid anything with peanut butter these days unfortunately!

I agree, my kids didn't seem to like the taste of mint at that age for whatever reason, I thought DD just didn't like mint but then later liked it when she got older, and now that DS is 4 I am finding he doesn't like mint candy either, funny!

I like the idea of adding them to pops - I used to get those flat lollipops on strips at the grocery store - flat in cello in seasonal shapes, (red and green at Christmas, pink and yellow at Easter, etc.)

Oh, thanks for sharing the link, those are so stinkin' cute! I think I'll try to make some for my upcoming craft fair bake table.

Friends and I were talking they suggested using the small containers of play dough. Walmart has them in the Halloween section. I think 20 for $4.00.

Brilliant! I can't spend a ton of $$ on Halloween candy, and I think Pixie Stix are the one non-chocolate candy that ALL kids like! Plus you don't have to worry about myriad food allergies.

Great idea! I love it - so cute.

I agree, with kids that have food allergies - stay away from peanut products. Play dough is a great option and so are lolli pops.
