Default Paper must haves!

O.K so which colors of SU cardstock could you not live without? I want to buy it all, but have to pace myself so the DH doesn't freak.
Which colors do you use the most and which ones do you use the least?
Thanks,
Stephanie

Garden Green because I love any stamp with flowers on it and I think it is the best of the greens for the stems. Pretty in Pink, Brocade Blue and Mellow Moss have also been getting a good work out lately.

Hi. If I can get this to work, I will add an attachment that list color combinations. You can go through it and pick a couple to start. There is also a website that has teriffic color combos. I'll try to post it in another post. I hope this helps!

Think spring! Start with some bold brights or soft subtles. You'll be using them the most in the coming months. Then in the fall you can start buying some earth elements and rich regals.

I'm a fan of mellow moss and almost amethyst. You can always get the variety packs and see what tickles your fancy. That way you'll have a little bit of everything in the color family

This is a great tool. I'm very tempted to buy the book myself.

One of my friends showed me some cards she made with Taken with Teal and Gable Green. I made cards all weekend with those two colors and I am so in LOVE!

The ones I use the most of are mellow moss, eggplant envy, all of the purples, barely banana, night of navy, bordering blue, black, all of the pinks. Right now I am using mostly SS and BB because it is spring.
And I couldn't live without Naturals white. I hardly ever use US White any more. oh, and perfect plum and pale plum.

I got the multi packs to begin with based on the season and what I would be using the most....it is coming close to spring so I would say spring time colors!

I would say black (a must have!) almost ameythest, lovely lilac, barely banana and cameo coral (which looks great with the black and the barely banana.) I also love the ultrasmooth vanilla and white.

For me the basics are basic black, real red, garden green, yoyo yellow, lovely lilac, green galore, ballet blue, tempting turquoise & pink passion. With it being spring I love mellow moss, barely banana, and almost amethyst.
I use real red the most of any color...it is great for valentines day, birthday's (great with lovely lilac) and for Christmas.
Purchasing the assortments is a great idea so you get a feel for the colors you like the most. Once you know that you can purchase accordingly.

One thing that it took me a while to notice is that I may like one of the SU colours in ink, but I don't like the same colour card stock. For example, Going Grey ink is so versatile, but I don't like the Going Grey card stock at all. So while you're making your decisions, remember that ink doesn't equal card stock.

Anyway, talkin' card stock, the colours I use most often are bordering blue (perfect to stamp snowflakes on), gable green, real red, almost amethyst (great for baby, wedding and sympathy cards), mellow moss, creamy caramel, more mustard, rose red, lavender lace -- oops, I better stop before I just list all 48.

Why don't you pick out one yellow, one or two blues, one or two greens, etc. and order a few each month (this is, of course, after you order all four assorted packs)

I just started getting Stampin' Up! Cardstock in January. I have been getting their stamps for about 1 1/2 years.

Anyways I fell in love with their cardstock with my first batch. I had two functions in January. One was the card swap group that I joined and the other was a workshop that I hostessed. My Demo used Really rust at the swap with All I have Seen. I was in love with the set and liked the colors, so I ordered Really Rust and Ultrasmooth white carstock. Then for my party I ordered Barely Banana, Gable Green, and the multipack of Soft Subtles. I also am making birth announcements for my sister and had her get Pretty in Pink and Ultrasmooth Vanilla. As soon as I touched my SU! CS I was in love, can't believe I was buying the cheap multi packs at Micheals that always have some colors in them that are unusable.

I wish I had gotten a multipack of every color family. Lucky me I am hostessing another party this weekend, and paper is so on my list! I am going to get a multipack of each color family and depending on my budget maybe some packs of favorite colors. I will experiement with the multi packs to find out what colors I love and go from there. So that is my suggestion get the US white and vanilla and the multi packs.

I love the white and cream confetti cardstock and I love to use mellow moss and not quite navy with it. For birthday cards -- I love to use the Celebration Spectrum IP and the matching bright cardstocks -- Only Orabge, Pink Passion, Lovely Lilac, Brilliant Blue & Green Galore.

I agree with whoever said start with the soft subtles since it is springtime. Then you can get the bold brights for summer, earth elements in the fall, and rich regals in the winter!

I'm a demonstrator and have bought assorted packs while concentrating on collecting stamps and ink pads. I now have <drum roll> all 48 colors of craft pads and am now systematically ordering color families of individual packs of cardstock, along with that color family's accessories. I just order the bold brights and also have the BB eyelets, mulberry paper, vellum, fibers, mesh, and embossing stacks! Next paycheck - on to the Soft Subtles! I'll be done with buying all of this stuff by the time the new catalog comes out. Then I'll have a whole NEW list of stuff to buy. <sigh> I work my regular job to support my SU habit.

Default what color?

I think that color depends on you. I use nearly all of the colors, there are only a select few like Marvelous Magenta and Forest Foliage that I really don't use. Oh, and Mint Melody...not my thing, I like my mint with chocolate chips and in the form of ice cream, not paper. My suggestion is to buy all four color families, and purchase the assorted pack. Get a feel for what you like most and then replenish those colors. Unless of course your inks fall into a particular color family...if all your inks are Earth Elements, then I would buy the Earth Element assortment and see what you use most and replenish those colors. Hope this helps...

Default Three and Five Color Combos

Thank you for the list of three and five color combos!! This is a great idea. I started with an assorted pack of each color group plus white, then started adding my favorite colors each time I place an order. That way I always have something different to work with and I have a good supply of my favorites.

One thing that I really like...if you can get one inexpensively is a keyring with all of the SU cardstock on it to compare with your projects. It is a good way to see what CS colors you like before you buy it. You can get them on eBay or possibly someone who has some scrap SU CS laying around.

I love Real red. when you compare it to all of the other red cardstock out there it is the only one that is "really" red

I go back and forth all the time. It depends on what I am "into" that month! I started out with confetti white, US vanilla, US white, and the mulit-packs. That way you can play around and find the colors you use the most!

I could not live w/o US VANILLA

Right now because it is spring I am big into Mellow Moss, Pale and Perfect Plum. Chocolate and Pink are high up there and I closest to my heart will always be my Earth Elements. Old Olive, Real Rust, More Mustard and Close to Cocoa are always a favorite
