Default Paper Crafts Mag to close? *Merged*

Anyone hear about this? I just ran across this post by accident. Feb 2013 last published magazine?

Paper Crafts Magazine Closing - my kraft kloset

I tried to resubscribe, but found it was only digital. I thought it was funny that a magazine called Paper Crafts wasn't available in paper.

It is too sad, it was my favorite stamping magazine.

But at least we have SCS and Pinterest!

They went mainly digital. Occasionally, they'll put out a special issue in hard copy. This is their latest, which I picked up at either Jo-Ann's or Hobby Lobby:

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Cool Tools, Vol. 2

They did go digital but, as the post Leslie linked to says, even that is ceasing with effect from the Feb 2015 issue - no more PaperCrafts and Scrapbooking I'm afraid.

Best of luck and good wishes to all those staff affected by the closure.

This is sad news indeed, although I am a little puzzled as I can't see anything on the Paper Crafts website about it. Until they went digital, I used to buy their magazine from my local newsagent here in Australia. I still look through the old magazines and enjoy them very much esp. the special Holiday Cards & More issues. Such a shame......

I asked a FB friend as FB is abuzz and here is what she said:

An e-mail went out to some of the designers that were being featured in future issues. Other than that a formal announcement hasn't been made more widely yet.

I used to love that magazine. However in the last year found the examples really disappointing, don't know if it was lack of enthusiasm from the designers. I did also notice there were a lot of new designers and perhaps it was their cards etc that kept people from buying like me.

I think they did great job on their storage issues, much better than showing cards with straws and bottle caps on them.....that issue finished me.

I enjoyed my subscription to PaperCrafts. When they went digital a while back, I canceled it. So at this point it has little impact on me. I missed holding the paper magazine, so I subscribed to a British magazine which comes out 4 or 6 times a year. Pretty good magazine, and each issue has free paper, a die, a clear stamp...some kind of goodie (exciting but I haven't even used any of the freebies yet.) But the kicker is all the ads are for UK stores and sometimes seeing the goodies in the ads was the best part. So I probably won't renew it. Instead just look on line for inspiration.

I quit buying paper crafts a long time ago. The only magazine I still buy is CardMaker!

I LOVED Paper Crafts. So sad that they are going out. I am not surprised though, asked for my money back when they went digital. I STILL love paper. I feel like I am on the computer enough as it is. I don't want my magazines digital.

I like to be able to lay the page out and follow directions. Can't do that on the computer.

The way I see it is they put themselves out of business when they went digital.

I'm a little ticked off that I'm a subscriber and had to hear the news on Facebook, a designer's blog and now here. Still no notification from the magazine itself.

I subscribe to PaperCrafts, Cardmaker, and all the UK stamp and cardmaking mags digitally. Not sure why digital magazines are so disparaged. I love having them all on my iPad to take and read any time and any place I want. I live in a small apartment and it beats having stacks of magazines everywhere!

I'm sure when they are ready to make their formal announcement they will. I am guessing they wanted to make sure all their staff, designers and contributors knew first. Cut them a little slack. Having to close down your business and tell people they no longer have jobs, especially this time of year, is heartbreaking.

For people that work on computers all day, or people that stand all day at their jobs, just don't want to sit at a computer or have a tablet in hand to read at night time.

I have a headache, can't deal to fix my long run on sentence, sorry

Default No More Papercrafts Magazine

I just heard Papercrafts Magazine is no more. So sad to see so many paper/stamping shops (on-line and B&M) and magazines close down

I read a blog that had this info on papercrafts and posted in general stamping.

There was a post on the magazine's blog that alluded to it, but I looked and found no direct announcement about the closure. I have the digital subscription and I have to think about it before I open and read, as opposed to having a paper copy to drop in a bag or by my bed. Sad day, anyway! I heard about it from Sandy Allnock's blog post this morning.

I am not too surprised by the move, given their format change. I also canceled my subscription after a year of the digital edition. I keep these mags, and refer to them throughout the year for ideas and techniques that I would like to try. I now subscribe to the UK mags, and enjoy their designs, freebies, and explanations of techniques. Funny thing, though. I received an e-mail yesterday to tell me that my January 2015 mag is ready to view. I couldn't access it, but thought it was odd. I will try to see if I can access the downloads I have of previous editions. Diane

I didn't like it when they went digital, but I had already paid for for it and didn't want
the hassle of canceling. I wasn't planning on renewing anyway,I would have if it was
one I could hold.
I started getting one from the UK and I love it.
Like some else said I'm on the he computer enough, I want to sit down with my magazine
and enjoy it, not wait for it to load up.

Tablets are excellent to read magazines on, at least my iPad is. No waiting for anything to load up, you can zoom in to look at details, and my iPad has a nice stand that lets me prop it up and follow along with tutorials. I get that most people here hate digital magazines, but they truly aren't all bad.
