Default Padding Cement for Making Notepads

I was just on a website, Elissa's Desktop Pulishing Supplies. It was posted earlier as a place to get plastic sleeves for bookmarks. Well, I got some of those and a few other things. I saw on there that they had Padding Cememt. It is used to make notepads. You just neatly stack your paper and then "paint" this onto the end, when it dries, voila... a notepad!

Just a note to add: I've never ordered from them before today, so I can't say anything about them, their products or their service. But, they have some neat things on their website.

This stuff works great. My father in law bought me something similar several years back. It was very 'smelly', so ventilation was a must. My father in law would stack a ream of paper and coat 2 opposite sides. Then with his scroll saw he would cut the ream in 4's for me. I gave these to my fellow teachers. I'm not sure where he got the stuff from but it was awesome.

Please let us know how you like it. I wouldn't mind making some.

I am SOOOO happy you posted this! I just purchased my Zip'eMate and was also checking out the Sizzix site last night.

On Sizzix they had made cute notepads with the bat die and ghost die, and showed they have a machine that you can make these with, but it's $100! It bummed me because I wasn't about to spend $100 on that. It seems you use the "stuff" to put on the side to hold or glue the papers but then the machine squooshed (is that a word) the papers together and you kept it there until it dried.

Thanks for sharing!!!

I have a little tip for you ladies.
Padding cement is nothing more than good old Elmer's glue.
We make notepads at work by painting on plain white glue to one end of the pad.

OMGoodness! This is such a great site! And I'm broke! How sad is that? But thanks for posting it; I really like the bookmark holders!

gerveler:

I too sold my Sizzix but just this week purchased the Zip'eMate and am supposed to get it Friday. Can't wait! I hope I use this more than I used the Sizzix so I can justify buying another die cut machine.

The Zip'eMate looks cool, with a lot of different dies. They have great tag dies which is a style I really wanted, and I never cared for the Sizzix tag dies!

Also, you're supposed to be able to use other company's dies with it, even though Sizzix has a warning on their website that using other machines with their dies could damage them. I'll just have to wait and see.

I bought mine on eBay for $100 with $11 shipping; the company site is selling the machine for $129 (not including shipping) so I feel I got a deal. I only hope I like it! I did buy some of their Halloween and birthday dies and I just might try the notepad idea!
