Default Outlining your stamped image???

I was wondering what you ladies outline your images with? Particularly Anya or people stamps?

I'm trying to find the right hue for a gray setting, but can't seem to find the right one. I use Prismacolor pencils and markers.

Can anybody help a newbie?

Thanks,
Sheila

I outline with my Copic markers - usually a T1 or W1. I've never found a Prismacolor grey that works as easily as the Copics. Hope this helps!

i also use a Copic marker for this. i like the BV31. it's a little more on the grayish lavender side, but it's not too purpley and just the right hue. here's a card i used it on, so you can get an idea:
MFT--Trick or Treat with WTG by susiestampalot at Splitcoaststampers

it's just a tad darker in real life. and on the ghost, anytime i do anything white, i do a little highlighting with a light blue marker, too. just throwing that in there as another little tip...no charge!! haha!!

I recently took a Copic class at our LSS with Jen Del Muro and she also reccommended BV31. I liked it a lot. That's what I started using. I think it gives it just the right touch. HTH.

I also use Copics and use either C1 or C3. It's funny that you're getting so many answers on Copics as we clearly each like different ones!

Sometimes I use artist pastels to add a shadow below an image rather than outlining all the way around it. There's a mini tutorial on my blog with step-by-step photos: How to ground a digi-stamp image.

Like Kikikaren I have started to outline my stamped images with Copic C1 (a pale grey).
I think it's very effective.

Best wishes

Another Copic outliner here. I usually use one of the grays (C1) but have also been known to branch out to other colors (B00 or BG000) because that's just the dangerous, live life on the edge, kind of gal I am.

How does this help the OP who wanted to know about Prismacolors? Well, it helps them start buying Copics!!

I use C1, BG10 and sometimes BV31. Just depends on the image and what colors I've used for the image.

I've used any number of light copics.

but if you don't want to do copics I use N95 by Tombow often too and it works great.

I use a few different light coloured copics - but I've never tried BV31. Thanks for the tip! The last few times I've coloured in a image with copics I haven't shadowed at all!!! ;) Daring, I know!!!

I only use Prismacolor markers & pencils.
For outlining I usually use a pencil, Deco Blue PC1015.
Here is one example, My Singing Chickens

I haven't tried outlining with a marker yet!! Guess I'm Chicken??!!;)

For outlining with Prisma Pencils I use PC1087 Powder Blue. I don't have the Prisma markers so I can't help with those. I do use the Copic's and I have used different light colors for outlining/haloing the image.

I also use the Deco Blue Prismacolor pencil most frequently. I also have used the lightest of the Cool Grey, Warm Grey, and French Grey pencils.

I use a variety of Copic marker colors depending on the image.

I use a Tombow gray---I think it is N95. You can purchase this marker and see some wonderful samples at www.stampsbyjudith.com

Hope that helps.

i don't do the outline thing anymore, i do more of a "halo", as I call it in my classes. that was you can fill in the background with whatever you think the background would look like, light blue for sky, green for greenery etc...but when i DO use greys it's usually W000 with W1 or T1..

I use my trusty aquapainter and either bashful blue, going grey, or sahara sand inkpads.. If I need a darker grey, I'll whip out the wcc's. lol

I also use C1 of the Copics.

Here's an example of what C1 looks like:

2008 Winter is Calling by dstfrommi at Splitcoaststampers

If that's not quite dark enough for you then you could use C2.

Looks like I have to invest in a few Copics. Maybe I better ask that question then. If you can only purchase a limited amount of Copics which ones would you buy?

I'll start a new thread.

Thanks,

Sheila

I LOVE using the Copic c1 marker. I have never tried the BV31 but I am going to try. bty - I use the copic marker for outlining even if I colored the image with prismacolors and gamsol.

I also couldn't afford many, they are kind of high price. $5-6.99 each.
But I bought a few at a time, when they were on sale at Hobby Lobby. I'd by two shades of the same color. I don't have them in front of me, but I'd buy shades that are close to each other for shading. Main colors, Pinks, blues, greens. yellow or cream like skin color, grays, etc.

If I'm using markers, I actually use a light blue and light gray marker made by E.K. Success that I've had for years and just started using recently. If I'm using pencils, I use gray PrismaColors.

i love seeing everyone's replies here. interesting choices.

i use a light gray EK Success marker, but i also halo some using a mask and an ink on cotton ball - so, i'll use different colors depending on the colors in my project. here are a couple of examples:

gray outline, pink halo
gray outline, yellow halo

I use prismacolor pencils. My preference is Cool Grey 20% and French Gray 30%. Got them at Dick Blick here:
http://www.dickblick.com/products/pr...lored-pencils/

I used the cool grey 20% on this place card here:
Happy Harvest Sneak Peek #3 by whoistracy at Splitcoaststampers

You can see how I outlined the hurricane candle and created a shadow under my image with it. HTH!

Difference in Prisma Markers

Sorry ladies, but I do have some questions?
What in the world is copic pencils?
What is the difference in Prisma Markers versus what SU has?
I feel so far behind the times since I'm had a lot of sickness and out of the loop.
Any help would be appreciated and where I can locate these items would make my day!

Peace to all.........

I haven't done this before, but decided to try it on some of my people stamps, and I liked the effect! It seemed to make the image pop. I just used my SU bashful blue marker. I used prismacolor pencils to color in the images.

SU Soft sky works well, and I just use it out of the lid of my ink pad. I know it's retired, but you might find it on the Buy-Sell-Trade forum. I also like Going Grey.

I can't afford to buy many of them at a time, so I buy one or two per week whenever HL has their online 40% off coupons. I started off with one or two skin tones then started buying the basic colors from there (black, blue, red, yellow, etc). Also a colorless blender is a good tool to have. Now that I have at least one of each basic color, I'm starting to expand into different shades either lighter or darker, depending on the original color I purchased.
