Default Opinions...I know you've got them!

I'm taking on a new project and need some ideas.

Background: My husband and I are on the board of directors for the local preliminary pageant in our area, the winner goes on the state pageant-Miss Kansas and the winner there goes to Atlantic City for Miss America.

Part of the traditions for the state pageant is the local title-holders all bring a basket of goodies that is on display during the events and people place bids on them and the money goes to scholarships for the program. So part of the prep for our girl includes coming up with the auction basket.

In our initial discussion, we talked mainly about a wine tasting party kit....there is a local winery so that makes a tie in to our area (and we may be able to get some donated) We're going to call it Party on the Prairie--wine party for 10.

So the first help I need is opinions on what design to use for the package of invitations. I'm going for that quiet elegance look which is not my stong point. I'm kind of a bright and bold girl.

http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 may still be pending

http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1 may still be pending

I could do this for the inside:

Next...I'd like to add some other things stamped using the same set, so the basket will have real consistent theme and look. Anyone have any fab suggestions? I know you've got great ideas!

Thanks

Default Wine tasting basket

I like your choice of set and personally, I prefer #3.

You could make the tumbled tile coasters using the same theme.

what about those cute little wine glass charms, made with shrinky and wire.

You could cover the labels of the crackers, cheese, or whatever else you put inside, to follow the theme.

You could get a wine bottle opener, package it in one of those small plastic bags, and make a tag or topper to stamp on.

I personally like the third one also, however there are still a couple that are pending and I wasn't able to see those.

They are all nice, but I like the one with the three overlapping squares the best! Have you thought about changing the ruby red to perfect plum? I think the plum might coordinate better with the moss. I also thought of the polyshrink wineglass charms, and I like the idea of the coasters too!

I LOVE all the cards. The colors are GREAT. Will definitely have to case them.

HOWEVER, for a quiet elegance look, I don't like the You're Invited font...

It reminds me of when I was in junior high and dotted all my letters... not really what I would call elegant, ya know???

If you don't have a different set for the you're invited piece, could you run it through your printer and choose a more elegant font?? Or since it's only 10 invites, do you have a different alphabet set??

Sounds like lots of fun!! Definitely post and let us know your final decisoin!

I think your choice of colors on #2 and #3 are great. But your greeting doesn't fit the style you are shooting for, or the Etruscan set you are using. Talk to your demo & see if she will let you borrow the You're Invited stamp out of the new Sincere Salutations. It's much more elegant, and not so "cutesy". Otherwise, you've done a great job with the designs.

Kelly,
GREAT choice for words. I didn't even THINK about the Sincere Salutations set You're Invited. Definitely more elegant!

Make that change and I think you'll be SET!

take care,
elizabeth

What a fabulous idea!!! You ROCK! I used to have a gift basket business and made baskets for the Miss Wisconsin pagent two years in a row!

I like #2 & #3 and the seond to last one the best. I agree with a previous stamper - I would use a more elegant font too.

You could stamp a matching candle to help set the mood! I have directions and they are super simple!!!

Good luck - I was also going to suggest the wine charms - it would add a wonderful touch!

I personally like #4 the best because the jute reminds me of those twisty things on a real grape vine (technical term), and the color is perfect for wine.

There was a thread about this a while ago, something about doing them for a wedding. I didn't follow it to see the conclusions, but you might either start a new thread or do a search and check it out.

I like the ones with Ruby Red I actually like them all so I can't pick a favorite LOL. I agree a fancier font might make it a little more elegant and my preference would be to print the invite part on your printer to keep up with that elegance of the outside

I agree with #3 and changing the greeting font. I also think you should change the red to maybe Eggplant Envy.

It's a beautiful layout that I think I will have to CASE!

I like the 4th card (the 1st of the two that say pending). I agree with th eother people that said they don't like the You're Invited font. It's just not elegant. If you don't have a stamp set to stamp the words, try printing it on a computer. SU has some great journaling font cd's that could help. It's also really easy.

I too liked the one with the three diagonal squares and agree that a fancier font might be in order. How about stamping some kind of napkin ring. For our family reunion we used the Great Outdoors wheel and cut apart the squares and tied them with hemp around our plastic silverware wrapped in the napkin. Everyone thought we were so talented.

I was thinking the exact same thing when looking at the different designs. I like the look you're striving for (I think my fav is the one with 3 overlaping squares), but the words don't match. Whe Sincere Salutations set would look fantastic here. That style of writing just looks great with so much, but especially an elegant type design. And it's only $9.98 right now!!!!

Default I agree with the others about the "You're invited"

not looking that elegant. Other than that, all the other styles of invites look really nice. Perhaps the perfect plum would look good for a wine tasting.

For extras for your basket...what about...
stamped coasters with cork feet
perhaps a customer wine label cover secured with a nice wax seal?
notecards made & kept in a 6 x 6 page protector notecard holder
stamped linen napkins

If there's a place to keep this refrigerated...perhaps some cheese and crackers and you can make a little label cover for these items as well. Close with a wax seal or goal or silber round labels to keep it classy looking.

Just a few ideas.
Hope you have a GREAT time and make a wondermous basket!
