OMG I am getting published for the 1st time!
I am so flippin' excited I could.....well......FREAK BEANS! LOL (sorry LisaLisa, had to steal it! ) 
Got an email from the RubberStamper magazine saying they are using my faux postage submission in their Oct/Nov issue! YIPPEE!!!!!

That's awesome, good for you! I have a question though. Does this mean that you now have to delete your card pic from your gallery since it's being published? I'm not real clear on that point. I know that on other website galleries I'll see a pic that say "pulled for submission" or something. I'm just curious.

JessRose, I don't post cards that I plan on sending in for publication and I don't post them afterwards either. I'm a librarian by background and it's just my personal preference to do it this way. I have seen other people who have posted their cards on SCS for others to see after they have been published. Maybe someone more experienced with publishing cards can answer your question better.

I work for a magazine, so I know a little about publishing and rights. You might want to check with the magazine on their policy. Did you sign a contract? If yes, everything will be stated there. If you are just getting a free issue and no payment, then it might not be clear.
The magazine I work for buys "all rights," which means we purchase the item and own it forever. It says that in the contract. Some magazines buy "one time rights," which means they can publish it one time, and then it's yours again (they have to ask permission and/or pay you again to use it).
Either way, if you're unsure, it's smart to ask. You don't want to get into any sticky situations. Hope this makes sense. __________________ Happiness is being kneaded. Avatar is my childhood kitty, Berries. |

I haven't signed any contract, and the "compensation" is a free copy of the magazine that I will be published in.
Under the submission guidelines it states:
"Please do not submit articles or artwork to both Rubber Stamper and other magazines simultaneously. We assume that all articles and artwork are offered to The Rubber Stamper for first, exclusive, North American publication rights unless other arrangements are made."

They are asking for the right to publish your card "first and exclusively," meaning they don't want to see it next month in, say, Paper Crafts. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that after the issue is off the newstands and no longer available for sale, the rights go back to you. So, to be safe, I would not put it in any online photo galleries until AFTER the issue is off the newstand. __________________ Happiness is being kneaded. Avatar is my childhood kitty, Berries. |

I would as a precaution delete it from your gallery. I have several friends who are published on a regular basis and they do not post anything, anywhere, for those items they create for publication.
Just a suggestion....

Wow, congrats! That is so cool that they actually let you know that they used your stuff!
I got an email from a friend who received her Take Ten vol 5 in the mail and saw at least 2 things in there of mine... and I had no clue whatsoever. They didn't let me know anyting. I still don't know what cards they are!! I'm gonna have to get to my local store and check it out.
I did call Stampington and found out they do send a free issue to published people - but also told me it could take 5 weeks to receive because they send them 3rd class!!!!! I can't wait that long!!
Kudos to Rubber Stamper for being so on top of that! I LOVE that magazine, and recomment it highly!!
Take Ten is great too, but you can only get one twice a year! I need a fix every month!
Congrats again! Say, what's your name on the samples in the magazine? Trudee what?! I want to look for you!!
