Ugh. I had so many problems with my cards falling apart in the beginning. Double-sided tape and glue sticks just don't work for me. For a while I was taking regular Scotch tape and rolling it into a little tube, which was tedious but worked.

Then I found glue dots. Expensive, but they actually kept my cards together.

Then I found SCS, and from there found out about the ATG. I bought one a few months ago and love it. I still use the glue dots for small things. I also use the red line double-sided tape (Terrifically Tacky?) for stuff that is too narrow for the ATG, and the Tombo Mono Multi glue for really tiny stuff. I still haven't found a good vellum adhesive.

Oh kay, OK, this is all fine and good, but I have never used or even seen some of this stuff, can someone let me know about how much these glue alternatives cost, because I have a budget problem (see the goingCold-Turkey link or thread) buying a tape system is good, but the refills are usually very expensive as far as I've seen. any comments?

Is this still available? If so, where can it be purchased? I can't find it anymore anywhere around here. Thanks

I use Scrappy Glue by Heidi Swapp. I get it at Joanns. Trust me, your card won't fall apart.

Is there a reason you pm people instead of posting on this thread?

I found that the refills - even if you buy them at M's or wherever - aren't really more expensive becauase they last so much longer. They may cost more up front, but if you figure out per-inch cost, and how much less of a good quality adhesive you use, it's pretty cost effective.

I'm going to have to check out the Scotch ATG. I have horrible luck with those type of adhesives. I tend to use a lot of glue sticks and Scor-Tape as I'm often applying paper to a large surface like a notebook cover.

Nancy, great tips! I referenced them my blog (with credit here and to your website). I will definitely have to start burnishing much more.

I love, love, love my pink ATG gun from Michaels! Like many have said, the initial investment seems like a lot, but there is so much adhesive on the roll that it lasts quite a long time and is cheap in the long run! For liquid adhesive, I use the Mono Multi and occasionally a glue pen for some of my tiny Sizzix Sizzlets letters I use when I scrapbook.

I bought my red ATG a few years ago, before the pink ones came out. I have yet to figure out why the pink ones are cheaper. Just a marketing thing, I guess. Anyway, I did the math (yuk) before I ordered mine. I figured what I was paying/yard for other brands' refills and the price/yard for the ATG refills. Once I used 10 rolls of the ATG refills, the gun paid for itself. I couldn't afford not to buy it! Now that the price is so much more reasonable (especially with a coupon) the break even point is probably more like five or six rolls. I love how smoothly it works, it's never gunked up on me, I'm not swapping out cartridges every other five minutes, and it never gets lost on my table!

Oh, yeah--it holds very securely, too. I've only had an issue with adhesives not sticking one time. It was a very humid day and everyone's projects were falling apart. I don't remember if I had the ATG then. We just took everything home and burnished it real well when the humidity came down a little.

Oh my goodness. Have you tried Coccoina 81 liquid glue! MARVELOUS. It also come in a glue stick, but love the liquid. It has a very faint smell like hazelnuts, has a sponge applicator in a tube.

I found a great place for refills for my ATG gun: [url=http://www.thetapedepot.com]Home*-*The Tape Depot - TheTapeDepot.com

I got 12 rolls (1/4" x 36 yards each) for $22.95. (This was a year ago, and I haven't used even half of it yet.) It cost 22.95 and there was no shipping cost.

I use Tombo tape runner. I buy refills with 40% off coupons in packages of 3. I have no problems with it sticking.

The ATG is so BIG. I want something comfortable in my hand, and that doesn't take up a ton of space in my drawer.
