Default Not a sermon, just a thought

Iím actually embarrassed and ashamed that the moderators of SCS ever have to see or deal with any negative aspects of running this site. The tone that some of the discussions have taken are a total inconvenience and waste of their time. That kind of behavior does not convey any appreciation for the enormous amount of generosity extended to us by the moderators making SCS available to such a large audience.

Let's all be mindful of sharing usefull info without any more lashing out. Let's be helpful to each other and repe the many great rewards that this site has to offer.

I just found this site in Oct. of last year and I canít put into words all of the positive aspects I have gained from being a part of this family. I am so very thankful for the wealth of inspiration and information here at SCS. Also the instant support from the majority of the members has been extremely helpful and uplifting. This site has so much to offer and asks for nothing in return. I chose to make a donation and truly feel we all should. Thereís just no place like SCS!

Thanks just canít be said enough to those of you that created with wonderful site with the very best of intentions. Thanks so much for your generosity in sharing. Thanks for the countless hours and dollars that you have spent in your selfless effort to share with others. I'm so sorry that appreciation is not conveyed at all times. You are appreciated and deserve a great deal of gratitude. I feel so blessed to have access to this site and I appreciate you all. Thanks for just being you! Nan

I myself have vowed to not respond to posts that I feel are out to start fires here at SCS. I hope others do the same. If these types of posts are ignored, the people posting them will not get the satisfaction they hoped for.

I'm with you. And thanks to all those who make SCS possible.

I to agree with this! Most of the time I don't even know what is going on because I won't continue to read the thread if it is hurtful to others! Everyone has thier own opionions about things....but some just need to learn to keep them to themselves at times! I know I do!

It is truely a shame that there are the same few people post nasty things over and over again. About a month ago one of the "nasties" really got to me. I was just sick of it. I basically told her enough already. She started sending me nasty pms and emails. It was a horrible situation. I got so ticked off I stopped coming to this site. I took everything out of my gallery, and removed my info, and basically dropped off.I just couldn't understand it. Why the same people are allowed to do this over and over.

So many of my SCS friends, and even people I didn't really know very well were upset about me leaving SCS- but not nearly as upset as I was. I love this site. I love all the comraderie, and the support we all give each other. I went into the hospital shortly after all this happened, and I was bombarded with get well wishes, even flowers (thanks again Keagle and crafty pig!) and a lovely get well book several on SCS put together for me (thanks again stampinsusie, susie McCormick, mamakate, vickieY, ellen, keagle, lisa, cockapoo, and April. I hope I didn't miss anyone!) And so many gorgeous hand stamped cards!

My point of this is, there are by far more wonderful people on this site than nasty. This why I chose to come back. It seems that these nasty people bring out the worst in all of us- including me. I won't do that again. I ignore these nasty people. If I see their name on a posting- forget it! I ain't goin' there. These people take the nice out of my day and I won't give them that power anymore.

They may get pleasure out of starting trouble. That's fine. Let them. Slowly but surely it is starting to bite them in the butt. They can post their nasty stuff all they want. I for one, will NOT DIGNIFY THEM with an answer!

Have a wonderful day everyone! Marlene

Smile Respecting Others

I too agree.....those negative posts NEED to be ignored. No response is the best response and you are saying MUCH MORE by not responding. You are also then gaining the respect of others - those that see someone is trying to bait you, yet you rise above it. It really does just lower yourself to their level. I know it's easier said than done. I was "tempted" to respond to someone this week and believe me it was VERY hard to just ignore it. I have been treated for chronic major depression for 14 years now and the rudeness and insensitivity - for a moment - was VERY hurtful. Luckily, like MOST of those on SC, someone else offered a post with kindness and erased that hurt. It really was just that simple and I told that person how much it meant to me.

I really do think that if EVERYONE just ignores those threads or posts it will dissipate. After all, they are TRYING to get a response. Maybe we should all just do what happened to me - add a note of kindness below that post to whoever the "barb" was aimed at - with one act of kindness, another is sure to follow.

Blessings,
Debbie

It is to bad that "catty" can have two meanings on this site.

There has got to be a site for all the fire-starters. Can't they go somewhere else to stir up hornet nests?

As long as people keep posting to their threads and giving them attention (which is why they do it in the first place) they will stay right here!

It's just like with your children, when they learn they get a response from you they act up, ignore them & they calm down. If I come across a post that gets ugly - I laugh, pray for the people involved & move on.

I agree with all of the above. Let's remember that this is Tracy & Daven's sandbox and we are just allowed to come & play here. Please don't anybody give them a reason to send us all home! Remember how we all felt while the upgrades were taking place and we couldn't get into the forums or the galleries? I didn't like that at all and would hate to lose this wonderful place. So lets play nice!

Thanks Karrie, Very well said! I'd like us all to realize and appreciate what we have here. Tracy, Daven and so many others give so selflessly to keep this site running for our enjoyment. I'm with you all on the not fueling the fire with responses to negative posts. Some situations in life don't make sense no matter how hard we try to understand them. A Christian counselor once told me , "You can't make sense out of non-sense". It's taken a lifetime for me to learn that. Like some of you who have posted to this thread I too suffer daily with the tremendous pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia and I have overcome a childhood of abuse. I choose to help not hurt and am truly thankful for this domain. It's better than therapy for me when it's kept positive. Let's do our best to keep this board at it's best. SCS you rock!

Just an idea....click on User CP on the top of your screen and go to Buddy/Ignore List. There you can list those user names that you want to ignore. When someone is on your ignore list, you will see that they posted a comment but you won't see the words. It's wonderful because it allows you to read a thread without having to be bothered with the negative comments that some people can't seem to stop posting! It's like viewing SCS through rose colored glasses! I'm left in a state of bliss without being stressed! Thanks Daven for including this feature!
