I felt that way too until my husband bought one. After watching him use it, I borrowed it and loved it. I went to my son's football games and got great pictures. I love being able to see them immediately. I came home and downloaded them on my computer. The thing I love most about the pictures is that when downloaded on the computer I have them forever. They'll never fade and I never have to worry about the negatives. I copy them on CD's as well. I have relatives to send me pictures via e-mail and I can print them on photo paper and make cards for them. All can be done in just a matter of minutes, there's no need to wait for developing. I can print them in whatever size I want. I haven't used a traditional camera in a couple of years.
You don't need a digital camera to post pictures in the gallery. If you have a scanner, you can just scan them into your computer and upload them into the gallery.
I have a canon SLR camera; and am thinking about getting
the same one, but digital. I do not want to give up on film
completely....but I like the idea of shooting lots of photos and
editing them later. I will be interested to hear other
replys to this thread.

I don't have a digital yet but I plan on getting one eventually - tho I will never give up my film one. I mostly want a digital to take quick pics that I can upload right away and send via e-mail etc plus to take pics of my 3-D artwork that doesn't fit in my scanner!

Nope. No digital here yet. I look after children in my home and whenever I take their picture they say "let me see the picture". They just don't understand why that doesn't happen with my camera!

Ditto! My own kids do the same because Nanny has a digital we sometimes borrow. I don't have one because I don't think I'd print the photos. I'm so behind on scrapping at least with the printed pictures I can remain slightly organized! Although sometimes I think it would be nice not to pay for the dud photos that get snapped!

My husband has one, but I still take pictures with my film camara. We have an on going "joke" that I have NEVER held one of his pictures in my hands because he doesn't bother to take them to be printed, and also hasn't bothered to figure out how to get good quality prints from our printer. I've used his camara, and also my girlfriends, and I don't like that it takes a longer time for the picture to be taken from when you press the button. I can't get a quick action shot with the digital. I do like the fact that you know if you got the shot right away though. For now I'll stick to my old reliable film camara.
I bought a new digital before going to New Orleans last yr at this time and I love it. Have beautiful shots of the Big Easy as it used to be. Also use my SLR but take the digital with me all the time.
I resisted for so long because I couldn't afford a nice dig cam. I finally traded in my Canon SLR for the digital SLR and I'm so happy with it!
What I like most is that I can go to Wolf Camera, sit in a relatively quiet store at their computer and preview and edit my photos before I print them out. I did this a few months ago before I went to a stamping retreat and I printed out the photos I wanted to crop. I even made several 5x7's for my scrapbook and it was so easy!!
These days the cameras are getting better and better for less money. It's worth it to try one!
I had the canon film rebel and didn't want to make the jump to digital until I could get the digi rebel. I finally just got the digi rebel about two weeks ago. I love it! I had to take the Christmas photo and just kept shooting tons of pics - deleted most of them since my kids have decided they like to look anywhere but the camera! It was so nice to be able to pick and choose without worrying about wasted prints. I am loving it!
I did pick and choose from places to buy and didn't get the kit but built my own (I also can use the lenses from my film rebel). Can't wait for the holidays to give it a workout!

Get the camera! Then get the picturemate from epson! You can immediately print the pics and in the 6 or so months since I got it, the price has come down. My prints only cost 20cents a piece and I can do them at home. They are the most incredible quality and they are water resistant and are supposed to last like 200 years. I took a pic of my new Granddaughter and made it on the picturemate. I decided I wanted a bigger one. Took it to the store and did a 5x7. The color sucked. My picturemate one is beautiful. You can also make wallets! Love them both. Get them both! You deserve it!
No, you're not the only one. I just got my first digital camera two weeks ago. I wasn't sure how I'd like it since I was so used to film, but the transition has been easy! I like being able to see the pix right away, deleting unusable ones, and the ability to take photos in different sizes (for emailing, etc.). Another bonus is that the camera is much smaller and more portable.
