Noticed today that Sizzix has come out with a new base plate that "even after a 1000 uses looks new without indentations".

...it come with a warning to not use it with the B S Plus machine though, why?!? The plus must be different in some way, I had no idea. I've been thinking about getting a new machine and since I want a base plate this may affect my choice.
Yes I read that. My "why" was more of a "I never knew they were different, I wonder why". What I'm really interested in is knowing though what everyone thinks of the new one.

Exactly, is it because they are stronger in general or because its' cutting surface is larger or ......?
My other thought was while having a plate that won't get messed up with use it great, where is that pressure going? Could using it ruin my dies over time.
I have used the original precision base plate and stopped using it because it bent my cutting plate so much. I also found it started to warp the die.
I'm wondering, for those that have the NEW Chrome precision base plate, do you find it warps your top cutting plate as much as the original precision base plate?
I think this would be an awesome product to get. From what I have seen, only one pass through with the chrome plate and you get beautiful die cuts.
Please share your experience with the new plate - pros or cons.
I never got around to buying it myself. I have been contemplating getting a new, wider slot machine instead. I too would love to hear from anyone who has purchased it.

I don't have the old one and don't plan on getting the new one, either. I use a self-healing Accuquilt Go! cutting mat with my dies, and it works every time. It's thinner than a regular cutting plate, so i do have to shim, but there's no warping, indenting, etc. Decent price point, too - especially if you use a coupon at Joann's or Hobby Lobby (that's where I got mine).

What is your "sandwich" when using? What size top plate are you using?

Typical sandwich:
Base (all tabs closed)
clear plate
die (cutting edge up)
cardstock or paper
Accuquilt Go! mat
cereal box cut same size as clear plate to shim
I generally put the cardstock or paper I'm cutting on the Accuquilt mat, put the die on top so I can see what I'm cutting (cutting edge toward mat), then put the clear plate and base on top and flip the whole thing over to run it through the Big Shot. Sometimes I'll run it through back and forth a couple of times to be sure, or add a thin extra shim (regular cardstock or something), but usually it's okay with a single pass.
Eventually I'll find a cutting mat of the right thicknesses for my two machines, but for now old cutting boards (after they've outlived their usefulness in the kitchen) are my go-to for a 'cutting into' surface. Happy to say I've never had to buy a set of plates beyond the first, despite years of use. Adhesive magnetic sheet (photo-magnet or locker decor from dollar store) is also great if you need a permanent shim that can also hold dies in place, just don't cut into it.
I'd imagine the new plate could be incompatible with the two roller Big Shot because of applying more pressure at once creating a 'W' of force. Putting a non-flexible base plate (which the new chrome one sounds like, since it resists marking) could jam the machine. I would suspect that the new chrome plate would be even more destructive to dies - that excess force has to go somewhere, and if it's not being absorbed by the paper nor the plates, it's going into the die itself.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried it and the mat did not work for me. I was still hoping to hear about the Chrome Plate. So no one has purchased the chrome plate? Oh Well... $$$ saved.

I'm sorry to hear that. It has been one of my favorite things, so it's disappointing to hear that it was a fail for someone else...
I’ve not purchased a single cutting plate in years. I’ve been using the self healing mat made ny Lifestyle Crafts since it was first released. I can’t even tell you how old it is, but can safely say at least seven years. I’ve saved tons of money, and it produces beautiful cuts even now. It came with a magnetic base plate, self healing cutting mat, and a self healing embossing mat. The drawbacks are the mats aren’t clear and the magnetic mat doesn’t have enough magnets in it so I use a post it or tape. I think companies are reluctant to provide mats that last since consumables are a vast part of their profits. A good example are printers. They’re cheap, because the ink is where the profit is.
