Default Neenah paper

Can someone recommend a Neenah paper that works well with coloring with copic markers and isn't too thick?

Classic Crest Solar White 80#.  Recommended by the Copic rep that taught a class at our LSS several years ago and I've seen it cited her many times too.  I like it a lot.

Yep, what rockybeta said!

Classic Crest is the line of paper.

Solar White is the color.

80# cover weight is what you want - you'll also find 'double thick cover', text weight, and writing weight in the Classic Crest line.

Default General use?

I don’t use copics but is this 80# cover weight also good for using as the card’s base or better to use the ‘double thick’, if that scores and folds well. Thanks

I've used it, but got some of the 110# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White to use for card bases and I really like it better.  I find having both is nice......one for the base and then one for layering and/or coloring depending on the design.

Love the 80 lb. for my Copic coloring and basic stamping.
Yes!  I prefer the 110 lb. for white card bases.

Same here.

I'm not even sure what the "double thick cover" is - it only comes in larger sizes, if I remember right.

Ditto 110# for bases - but some people like the 80, and if there are layers inside the card and not just on the card front - like a light colored piece of cardstock that covers most of black Neenah Classic Crest 80#, it can work.

I just went through some cards sent to me over quite a few years after pets had passed away. They’re all retail, not hand made, and the thickness varies hugely. Of course we’re better than Hallmark.

I’ve never seen double thick either.

And Classic Crest, not Exact Index which is sold in big box stores. Very different weights/gsm/thickness. I tried to show a screenshot of a ream of each held side by side but a website glitch isn’t letting us do that at the moment.

I have a lot of the 110# card stock that I purchased a few years ago at a great price.  I was really disappointed that it would not work in my color laser printer.  I took it to Staples and had it cut, half into quarter sheets and the other half into half sheets.  They are great for bases if I need white and I always have a stock of quarter sheets to use for coloring and die cutting.

BJeans the photo icon is not working.
To load pics go into advanced and use the paperclip.
That pic sounds like it would be helpful.

Yes, exactly - embedding photos hasn’t been working. Lydia suggested linking, which I’ve done to my gallery for something else. But I’ll try your idea.

The photo is a screen shot from a Jennifer McGuire video. I typed the gsm larger on each ream. You’ll see the gsm (grams per square meter) of the Classic Crest ream is much higher than the Exact Index, even though both say 110 pound. Look at the huge difference in thickness.

Even a Copics instructor at an LSS didn’t know that Exact Index wasn’t the Neenah paper many stampers liked. In a class she said she didn’t know why people liked it. Later I asked her where she got hers. It was Office Depot - so she bought the wrong paper.

This is the video the screenshot was taken from.

Where do you all buy your Classic Crest?  We used to have a paper store in town that carried it but it's closed now.

I hope no one else is watching their package not move on the tracking system after ordering from Joann’s. Apparently, my order made it to Troutdale, OR and continues to sit there. They’re not even providing an estimated delivery date. I found a site for griping about the Not-Brown delivery service and Troutdale is having major backup issues which are attributed to Covid. I totally get that they have no control over employees getting ill, but why continue to route shipments thru there? I just hope the custom shades we ordered and we’re shipped with the same company don’t get stuck there, too.

The terrible wildfires may have had an effect too.

I hesitated to post, but since you’re having trouble, there have always been large numbers of complaints on line about their shipping. I’ve ordered just a couple times a while back but held my breath. (The only mistake was they sent me two of the same die though charged for one!)

And dealing with customer service can be tough. It’s a good idea to read their return policy.

I ordered curbside pick-up, received confirmation and drove pretty far since closer JoAnns were out of stock. The very nice staff at the store couldn’t locate my order, and finally figured out they were out of stock too. A few days later I received an email from JoAnn telling me my item was out of stock.

They may not be equipped to deal efficiently with huge increases of on-line and curbside ordering since the pandemic. I hope your package shows up. Sometimes scans are missed and a package will suddenly appear. That just happened to me (not with Joanne). Good luck!

Bjeans - thank you for the response. Thankfully I have enough SU! Whisper White card stock to last me a while. I’m just gonna take a picture of the shipping info so I have proof in case it disappears.

Default Disappointed

Only the 80lb card stock was in the box I received today. Sent a message to Joann.com so hopefully, this will be fixed.

Flamingolady - sorry I kinda hijacked this thread. Hopefully, you’re not getting an email with every post.

Got an email saying my order arrived. Good news - it includes info on a second shipment that has the 110lb card stock. No idea why that info didn’t show up when I looked at the order online. So, Sept 23 will be when I get to check out the 110 for card bases.

Same thing happened to me - 80lb came first and then a few days later the 110lb arrived.

I don't order from Joann's a lot, but the shipping has always been slow (even before the COVID).

I’m really happy with the price so that makes up for the weirdness of the shipping!
