I haven't been around much as I'm really into my genealogy research, getting my DNA testing and I've been having some health issues as well. That said, I've been doodling my own coloring sheets lately and using one or two lines from scripture, hymns, and some friend poems, like these ones below --

What a friend we have in Jesus. . .
----------------------
Friendship is a Miracle
By Jon Gilbert

Great miracles still happen
In this day and age, it's true,
And I thank God for the miracle
Of friendship shared with you.
----------------------
There is no friend like an old friend
Who has shared our morning days,
No greeting like his welcome,
No homage like his praise.
Fame is the scentless sunflower,
With gaudy crown of gold;
But friendship is the breathing rose
With sweets in every fold.
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes.
----------------------------------
True Friendships
By Ruth Cramer

True friendships are like flowers rare
We find along the way;
We cherish them with loving care
And tend them day-by-day.

Deep in our hearts we hold them fast--
Their beauty never wanes,
And long-- as long as life shall last,
Their fragrance still remains.
-------------------------------
To Have a Friend Like You
By Jon Gilbert

Our friendship is a Golden Chain
We've forged down through the years
That has bound us close together,
Because of joy and tears!

And as the chain's grown, link by link,
One fact stands clear and true;
There is no greater joy than just
To have a friend like you.
-------------------------------
When troubles come
your soul to try,
You love the friend
who just stands by.
---------------------------
Jesus said, "I have called you friends." ~ John 15:15
--------------------------
True Friendship Never Ends
By Phyllis Robbins

Books and songs
and poems have ends
But never the love
Between good friends.
---------------------------
When
good friends
walk beside us. . .
On the trails
that we must keep. . .
Our burdens seem less heavy. . .
And the hills are not so steep
The weary miles pass swiftly. . .
Taken in joyous stride. . .
And all the world seems brighter. . .
When friends walk
by our side.
-----------------------------------
God knew we could not get along
If each one walked alone,
And no one gave a passing thought
To troubles not his own;

And so, to help us on our way
Until the journey ends,
He gave us, out of his great love,
The cherished gift of friends.
----------------------------------
"The Lord bless thee, and keep thee;
The Lord make his face shine upon
thee, and be gracious unto thee;
The Lord lift up his countenance
upon thee, and give thee peace."
~ Numbers 6:24-26

Insomuch as any one pushes you
nearer to God, he or she is your friend.
-----------------------------------
He Cares For Us
By Maryann V. Shue

If God can clothe the flowers gay
And feed the little bird,
How can we doubt He loves us
Or that our prayers are heard?

If God can hold the waves in check
Within the raging sea,
How can we doubt that He can keep
His loved ones -- you and me?

Nature reveals God's love and power
In rich abundant measure.
We cannot doubt His tender care
For us -- His special treasure!
---------------------------
Of all the lovely gifts life sends
One of the best is treasured friends--
Friends who are near each golden day;
Friends who stand by when skies are gray;

Friends who rejoice in our success,
And share our hours of loneliness;
Friends who are loyal and true-blue;
In other words, such friends as -- YOU!

I've been assigned some homework by a therapist - making a Positivity Journal this year. I'm looking for 4 line poems, sayings, scripture verses and quotes to add to my journal along the lines of post #372 (Accentuate the Positive song by Patti Page) which has already been noted. My base is a composition notebook in the planner format and is decorated with card flip-outs from family and friends, digital stamps, doodles, food packaging, stamps, stencils, washi tape, etc. I've composed monthly videos at YouTube and am sharing what I find on my Gratitude Blog here.

Hope you have some good nuggets to share with me, as well as my readers of this thread! We all could use some good in this sometimes negative world. Thanks!

Here is a poem that I often use in my card-making .... it's one that goes well when my card features a bird image.

Said the Robin to the Sparrow:
"I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so."

Said the Sparrow to the Robin:
"Friend, I think that it must be,
That they have no Heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me."

~ Elizabeth Cheney ~

Letter of My Thoughts
By Craig E. Sathoff

I've written you in thoughts, my friend,
So often through the years,
But somehow ink just couldn't find
The words to make thoughts clear.

Within my thoughts I have relived
Those happy times we shared
As childhood friends who ran and played
Without the slightest care.

You were a friend to me back then,
And still you are today,
For memories can give us strength
And help us on our way.

In my thoughts I've thanked you, friend,
Though surely not enough,
For your example years ago
Still helps when times are rough.

I've often written in my thoughts,
But here at least are words
To say I thank you for the joys
That in my heart you've stirred.

I was reading a website that mentioned sending letters/cards to prisoners today. I personally believe that time-out shouldn't be fun, but if you want to send cards or letters to prisoners as a witnessing tool, just be aware their snail mail (no internet) is reviewed by prison staff, so there should be nothing in it suggestive that could be misconstrued as code or sexual in nature and attachments such as brads that could be used as a weapon are automatically rejected. Card should be single layer, and stamped/colored with permanent inks. Here are some other regulations - http://www.prisonpro.com/content/sen...-you-need-know

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive." (~ Sir. Walter Scott, Marmion: A Tale of Flodden Field. 1808.)

"Garden Hearts."
By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Kind hearts are the gardens.
Kind thoughts are the roots.
Kind words are the flowers.
Take care of the gardens, and
Keep them from weeds.
Fill them with flowers,
Kind Words and kind Deeds.

A Christmas Poem
by Helen Steiner Rice

I have a list of folks I know, all written in a book
And every year when Christmas comes, I go and take a look,
And that is when I realize that these names are a part
Not of the book they are written in, but really from my heart
For each name stands for someone who has cossed my path sometime,
And in the meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,
I really feel that I'm composed of each remembered name
And while you may not be aware of any special link
Just meeting you has changed my life a lot more than you think
For once I've met somebody, the years cannot erase
The memory of a pleasant word or of a friendly face
So never think my Christmas cards are just a mere routine
Of names upon a Christmas list, forgotten in between,
For when I send a Christmas card that is addressed to you,
It is because you're on the list that I'm indebted to
For I am but a total of the many folks I've met,
And you happen to be one of those I prefer not to forget
And whether I have known you for many years or few,
In some ways you have a part in shaping things I do
And every year when Christmas comes, I realize anew,
The best gifts life can offer is meeting folks like you.
And may the spirit of Christmas that forever endures
Leave its richest blessings in the hearts of you and yours.
