Default Need ideas for old CD's

I have a bunch of old cd's and need ideas to use for cardmaking, scrapbook pages etc. I don't mind cutting them up or altering in any way. Anyone know if they can be put through my Big Shot and cut? What kinds of ink or paint can be used on them? Thanks for any ideas. Janet G

Alcohol inks are good, and you can stamp with StazOn.
The Crop-a-Dile will punch through them, so you can punch two holes in a bunch of them and use them to make a mini book.
Hmm, it appears I don't have a photo of the card that was on my shelf till just recently, when I pulled it to bits because the paper had faded so much.

How about decorating them and making them into photo holders? a cropidile will punch holes in them. you can do singles or 3 or 5 hanging in a row or

you could make them into really nice christmas ( or any other holiday) hanging decorations. I 'm thinking metalics and glitter would be nice......

you could think of your own scheme.

or how about some outdoor wood chime decoration for the back yard to scare the birds away from your fruit trees

or something for the cabin/ cottage.....

These are all great ideas. I never thought to use my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes. Will be sure to try it.

You can punch holes using the Bind-it-All:

You can also try using one of your largest circle nesties or sizzix circle if you have one to cut out cardstock or designer paper to cover them...then using your Bind It All to put it together for a Mini-Album.

I've done a few mini books with old cd's. I used my crop a dile to punch the holes. It works great.

I've made jewelry pins--see link. You need to heat the CD in order to cut it, then distress inks & UTEE, some glitter if you'd like. these were a big hit. Warning: the picture isn't the best.

Default CD ornaments

I made Christmas ornaments out of mine. I hung a few on my tree and put the rest on gifts instead of bows.
See them here and how I did them:
http://bettystamps.blogspot.com/2007...ornaments.html

They were a lot of fun to make.

I made coaster by just applying foam stickers to silver side and a round piece of fun foam just smaller then CD to the bottom side. Works great.

One of my friends made several of these CD fish mobiles and hung them around her deck. They really shine in the sun!

http://www.engagetoday.org.uk/newsle...img/CDFish.jpg

CD fish mobile: sandwich silver or gold card fins and a loop of wool between two old CDs and finish off with an eye drawn onto a sticky label for a really effective mobile. You will need to use PVA craft glue for this rather than gluesticks. Let it dry before hanging.

If anyone needs some CD's I can send you some (just pay postage/if I were rich I would pay the postage, but I'm not...lol) 'cause I have a TON of them. I know I'll never use them, but I can't bare to throw stuff away that is still useful to someone. Just send me a pm.

The year my daughter graduated from High School, I used them to decorate with at her reception. We glued them together with fish line in between. Then we hung them with lots of streamers of curly ribbon in her school colors along with balloons. They were real "cool" looking and very eye catching.

I make coasters out of mine. I cover them with pretty paper or pictures and top coat them, then glue either fun foam or felt to the other side and give them away at Christmas. My mother loves them. I've also seen mobiles made out of them to scare away birds in the gardens.

Default Picture of CD's

I see that alot of people say they use their crop-a-dile to punch holes, but I am so scared that I will break my crop-a-dile (and that baby isn't cheap).

I absolutely LOVE the clock idea and they seem so easy. I have a big family and at Christmas time even with homemade gifts it can get expensive. I'm going to try my luck with these. I like that they can be personalized to fit any style.

Thanks Evelyn for the photo. I'll send you another pm.

Thanks everyone for the many great ideas. Can't wait to get started on some of them. I tried my crop-a-dile to punch holes and was very easy.
