Default Need ideas? - baby shower centerpiece

I am hosting a baby shower and I am looking for a really unique centerpiece idea but I am not interested in doing the diaper cakes. The baby is due the week before Christmas and we are doing the shower in red and cream. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mini Cmas tree with baby themed ornaments (also could be the favors??)
Or a pretty grouping of red and cream Poinsettias?

I made rosebuds out of baby socks, some with the lace trim and put in a baby planter for my daughter's baby shower a few years ago. The planter was one I received when my daughter was born. You just roll the sock, starting at the toe and then fold the top up over the rolled part. I also made a corsage for her to wear. You can incorporate diaper pins and ribbon into the arrangement.

Here's a combination centerpiece and party favor idea:
Pinababycake by pdaniel at Splitcoaststampers

That's a lot of cutting for the cake slice boxes, but you can buy them pre-cut on ebay at a reasonable cost.

penguin stuffies, w/ mini santa hats!
i like the pointsettia idea, and the cake boxes too!
SU has the cerise designer paper that fits into your color scheme,
and you can make 2-5-7-10 boxes filled w/ kisses in red and grn foil.
