Wink MY WIFE, THE STAMPER

She learned to stamp on Monday, Her images were fine.
She forgot to thaw out dinner, so we went out to dine.

She made some cards on Tuesday. She says they are a must.
They really were quite lovely, but she forgot to dust.

On Wednesday, it was embossing. She says the designings fun.
What highlights! Oh what shadows! But the laundry wasn't done.

Her die cutting began on Thursday, cut pieces now instead.
I guess she really was engrossed; she never made the bed.

It was more cards on Friday, in colors she adores.
But she never seemed to notice the crumbs on all the floors.

I found a maid on Saturday! My week is now complete.
My wife can stamp the hours away; the house will still be neat.

Well, it's already Sunday. I'm relaxed and ready to camp.
Then I turn around and see - the MAID has learned to stamp!

***giggles in Texas!***
Several years ago our former next door neighbors came over for dinner & games. But first, she asked me if I had stamped any new things since she had last been over ... and we were then engrossed in the ensuing show & chat. Truth: My DH turned to her hubby & said, "I'm so sorry .... "

This is so funny but I would like to add another stanza...

To-day my wife suggested...
From the chair I stir myself.
Get a grip..and grow up..
You're old enough to look after yourself!!!!

The end..... LOL

I don't know, Ladies. It sounds 1950s to me and not all that funny --or maybe that's why it's funny.

Well I read it to my DH and he laughed, he usually doesn't have much to say... although he fondly calls my stamping activities 'The Cult'...

It isn't meant to be taken as a keep us in the kitchen enslaved kind of thing. Just funny and we certainly took it that way!

Any husband or boyfriend of mine who assumed dusting, ironing, etc. was totally my job would find himself stamped on!

I agree, Louisa May. I love the poem (not because of the 'keep her in her place, she should be keeping the house' sentiment, but because of the 'she's off in another time warp' sentiment) and Mrs. Noofy's last verse is a perfect ending, imho. lol!

Jeaniebean, that last line is just as bad. We've had three great cleaning ladies, and all of them would have sprayed me with Windex if I called them "the maid." That's as bad as "the help." I do get it that the 50s attitude can be funny, but what was supposed to be funny here was the wife figuring out a way to get out of doing her "duty." The loves of my life have been men competent at household duties and willing to share. Is that rare?

It was a poem, I think that somebody was trying to be cute not hurtful. Lighten up and let's not get offended about every little thing.

I so agree...why take things so seriously. Its cute ..it's funny and it could also be a poem about a single woman just change all the "She's" to "I". I see so much negativity on facebook I don't want it to be on here too. Life is too short...laugh a bit!

What a great way to start my day off with a good laugh...that was funny and very true for me. There has been lots of days the laundry didn't get done or the beds made but I sure did have a blast in my craft room.

LOL!!! My hubby got a laugh out of this too!!! Thank goodness, my hubby helps with the house work! AND he encourages me to create, giving me time to meet deadlines for challenges, & to just have fun! We encourage each other in our different hobbies & work together. It makes for a happy marriage!

I have heard this before and thought it was so funny and sometimes so true. I have on several occasions said to my hubby.."you're going to have to make dinner tonight because I have to get this card finished or I am on a roll and can't stop. He is always willing to lend a hand with laundry and such.

I LOVE THIS!! People get over yourselves. Not everything is sexist, racist, anti-anything. This PC stuff has gone too far when you can't even enjoy a cute poem.

Different lifestyle and values reflected here. My reaction isn't too sensitive, and yours are not callous. We have different values, that's all. At unfunny jokes my father used to say "That's too high a price to pay for humor." Most respondents here and I set our prices differently but I would never tell you your price is too low. It's good to look at what we laugh at. Because laughter is a true values bottom line. I don't laugh at ethnic jokes, unless they're told by insiders. And I don't laugh at dumb blonde jokes either.

I loved the poem and shared it with my husband. What I don't understand is why does it have to be dissected and analyzed

What I don't understand is why people can't have different opinions. Also, why we seem to need to beat a dead horse. lol! C'mon! some are tickled with the poem, some are not. The poor person who posted it, who seems new to SCS, has probably been scared off by now.

Shared this with my hubby, he thought it was funny! He has always shared in every household activity, from cleaning to cooking and household repairs, but the best part is he is a big help when I loose a stamp or die, he always finds them, (my lucky charm) and he learned how to use the Big Shot so he can die cut all the pieces for my monthly workshops while I prepare other things. Teamwork and mutual respect for each other's hobbies, it works for us.

This is hilarious! My hubby helps with the housework and sometimes, because of my health issues (and stamping), he seems to do more than I do!

We have found that a "happy wife is a happy life" and do not concern ourselves with a pristine household...we are retired and love playing around with our hobbies and know that life is short! Stamping is definitely a stress releaser for me so thankfully my hubby is very supportive!

Love the lightheartedness of the poem, the "ring of truth" for me and thank you, Di789 for sharing!!
