Well mine isn't a sentiment it is actually a story. I got it several years ago but I cry each time I read it. Lets see if I can remember it. It goes something like this.
One day a little boy and his mom were walking home. Now this little boys mother was crippled and couldn't walk well. The little boy curious as most little boys are looked at his mom and said, "Momma, what do angel's look like." The mother replied, "when you see one you will know." They went on about the walk home and soon the little boy saw a woman dressed in very nice clothes walking on the road. The little boy ran to her and said, "excuse me are you an angel?" The woman ignored him and went on her way. The little boy looked at his mom and said, "I thought she was an angel but no she is not nice and angels are nice." They continued on thier way and soon they saw a young beautiful woman. The little boy told his mom, "surely she must be an angel, she is so beautiful." The woman overheard and knelt down to talk to the boy. She laughed and said, "oh you dear boy, do you really think I am beautiful?" Just then a carriage came by and splashed mud on her. The young woman got angry and said, "I was on my way to meet my love and now my dress is ruined because of you." Then she left in a hurry. The little boy started to cry and said, "momma, I don't think I will see any angels today. I am tired, let's go home." The crippled woman picked her young boy up and wiped away his tears as she carried him home. Suddenly the young boy looked at his mother and said, "Momma, you didn't tell me you were an angel." The mother looked at her son and laughed and said, "I am not an angel, I am just a mother." But the crippled mother walked with a skip in her step the rest of the way home. For her boy thought she was an angel.
It goes something like that. I can't find the story right now and I know I might have left a few parts out but that is pretty much it. I have always liked that story. It even made me tear up just writting it on this post.
