Default Modern Flowers Card Wrap die

Did anybody buy this die? Just curious if I am the only one having problems and would like some help. I've used shims and have gotten to the point I can use no more shims or it won't even roll through my Big Shot. I can't even get it to cut through text weight paper. It cuts the outside edge and makes the score line, but I only get an impression of the design. I don't have a problem with the other dies I own. I have the original Big Shot with the thick platform. It seems all the videos I watch use the multipurpose platform. So, I broke down and ordered one and two brand new cutting plates. It came yesterday and I get the exact same results. Does anyone have ANY hints, tips, tricks, anything at all? Thank you.

Oh dear. I just ordered that die and I'm waiting on delivery. I was going to suggest new cutting plates but, you said that you already tried that. Now I'm worried. 😳

If all your other dies work, I would assume the fault was with the die and not your machine, and I'd contact customer support.

I have it, I use um wax paper a metal shim and a big shot pro and it goes through my machine a minimum of 4 passes turning the die so that it goes through the rollers at a different angle each time. I am cutting it with the cut side up.

It is very definitely a bring your patience to the table die for sure. .

I am also using thinner types of cardstock with it, SU and Neenah in an 80# coversheet

The particular card I want to use this on is the one Jennifer McGuire did in her video (and the main reason I bought it). Since the card is long, I don't have the option of changing the angle of the die as it goes in the machine. The only thing I have not tried is wax paper.

I even tried text weight paper and it cuts the outer edge, makes the score line, and imprints the design. So disappointed as I loved that die.

There is a very famous person on this sight that swears by this sandwich for intricate dies:

Platform ( use the new one)

BRAND NEW NEVER USED PLATE

Die, with cutting blade UP

Paper

Grungy cutting plate

Tape to hold them in place

I don't know if "her" method will help but since you bought the platform an plates can't hurt to try.

Another thought I had was to take one you already cut out, cut the border off and just use the inside intricate part as a shim.

I have this die on order so guess I'll find out soon if I have a problem with my big shot.

since you cannot turn the die in a smaller machine, you are probably going to have to start killing paper with shims. figure out where in the center you are not getting contact with the rollers and cut a shim (cardstock) smaller than the die to cover that piece... if that does not work, try a piece of a old kleenex or cereal box (thin chipboard)

it may take several shims.

if you have several shims and it decides it will not feed easily through the rollers do not force it you could break the machine.

You made me look. That is beautiful indeed! I had a Christmas card kit that had a wrap like that that was gold. It was gorgeous!I’m wondering if anyone has the die, and isn’t having trouble with it. I’d consider buying it if at least some have success with it.

I found yet another video where she uses the metal shim, so I ordered that. She cut a much more intricate die than the one I am trying and it cut beautifully. So, I ordered the metal shim. It came today. Same old results. I would be greatly interested to know if you have trouble with yours. Thanks.

I have the metal shim but have never used it. Also have this die on order but it has not shipped yet. Will let you know how it works in my Big Shot once received.

I'm seriously considering getting a Genini Jr. die cutting machine. My Big Shot is over 10 years old and does work well with Lydia's sandwich but can't leave it out as it is too big. I want something lighter and smaller.

Have you contacted SSS to let them know the problem you're having? It could be a defective die since nothing suggested is working for you.

Can you post a link to the video?

metal shims come in different gauges of thickness of metal.

I reach for the one I have from cheery lynn most often,

because, I am cutting this die on a larger cut platform I am able to angle the metal shim to catty corner feed it under the rollers and have only the edge of the shim over the die so I don't get funky cut lines in the center of the card. ( which really wouldn't matter much when I goof because, the smaller folding cardstock inside the wrap covers that up) but, in case you were not going to double card it.)

Received my die today and gave it a try. It did not cut about a 1" area through the center of the die. I placed another piece of card over the area and tried again. This time all was cut out!!
