I CASED this card from 2 different ones here (sorry, I don't have your names here, but thanks for the insipiration). It's missing something, but I don't know what. :? Suggestions please..... Thanks!
I really like how you've used the multiple colours on the Star of David.
Right now the Star of David seems muted compared to the dove. Could you cut it out and pop it up with dimensionals (like you have done with the dove). That would bring it back to being the central focus!
I'm also wondering if smaller ovals would work ... and leave you more space - then the 'Happy Passover' wouldn't feel so squished.
Good luck - I don't think it will take much to give it the 'wow' that you're looking for!
I'm just happy to see another person working on Passover cards!!! Sometimes I feel a bit "different" from the rest of the groups and postings.
Anyway, I love the colors that you used on this card, but I think the oval shapes make it challenging to add the WOW you're looking for. I probably would have done it in a square or torn bottom rectangle with some fibers or linen thread to make it WOW.
Make sure you post the final version so we can see how it came out!
I think you need smaller ovals or like Shira said, squares w/ torn edge bottom. Your "Happy Passover" gets lost with the larger ovals. Other than that it's a nice card.

Perhaps you could add some type of background stamp to the blue cardstock with versamerk or the matching blue ink...maybe Canvas or maybe a small image stamped repeatedly. The card is very nice, but does seem to need just a little something. I kind of want to say ribbon or cording, but not sure where I'd put it.
So nice to see a passover card. I wonder if I can get that set in time?
I love the spring colors you used. I wonder if you did some sort of versamarked background on the blue cardstock if that would give it more depth. Do you have the canvas BG? Or, as a pp suggested, to cut out the Star of David, pop it up with a dimentional and then do a bg on the white oval.
Thank you all for your suggestions! Of course I already did 6 of them, but since I'm not happy with them, guess I'l take them apart. Wish I'd only made 1 first.
Shira, what did you mean by torn bottom rectangle? To put the Happy Passover in?
I forgot to say that the inside is printed with a verse in blue from by computer.
For all you ladies who have commented about thinking it's nice so see someone else working on Passover, I'm writing your names down so I can pm you all when it comes time to make Bar Mitzvah invitations in about 6 months. You can run, but you can't hide!!
I think smaller ovals or a square would be helpful. Also, the dove strikes out at me because of the black outline. What if you stamped another star on a scrap and then use a fine tip black pen to outline it...then pop dotted it where the first star is on this card? I think adding some fibers or ribbon would help wow it up too.
Ok, one more question - I'm all out of barely banana cs, should I use mint melody (one of the colors in the star) or blush blossom? I'm still going to use bliss blue.
Ok, I decided on ballet blue and cameo coral. I think one of the things I didn't like was the blue/yellow (seemed to "eastery" to me). I'll post when I've done a new one.
When I saw your card,my first thought was-the dove needs a ribbon in it's mouth. Could you make a ribbon and put happy passover on the ribbon? It could be made of CS and cut the shape of a flowing ribbon and then out CE over the "ribbon" to make it glisten like a silky ribbon.
I say keep the ovals, but like others have said just make them smaller. The rounded shape makes it unique, since so many cards have rectangular layers, and I think it looks better with the shape of the star. The Ballet Blue/Cameo Coral color combo sounds nice. I was going to suggest the Blush Blossom when you were still using Bliss Blue, thinking it would pop more, and I think that the colors you've chosen will give a similar look. Make sure we get to see the finished product in your gallery!

I think it need some sort of ribbon or cording also, plus i like the idea of a background stamp on the blue. Make sure you post your finished card so we can see what you did.

Debbi
First... I would love to rec'v a PM around Bar Mitzvah time. I have about 8 years until I have to worry about it, but I would love the challenge and to see ideas!
As for the Torn Bottom Rectangle... I simply mean to make the star of David in a rectangle (like a 2x3) and then tear the bottom slightly. Keeping it long, but adding some texture to it with the rough edge.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Here's version #2. I'm much happier with this one. I couldn't figure out how to use ribbon or cording with the dove, so I gave up.
stampinCPA,
First, I have to say that I love the quote at the bottom of your posts! It's so true! I lost my dear 15 year old cat some time ago, but I still think of her almost every day. The fur on my furniture is now from two other cats, though!
Love the changes! It brings the star out as the focus.

WOW!
Yup, I think you've got it! The star is much more of a focus now. Even though you are using the same number of colours; this one looks much more colourful! Great job!
I love it! You did a great job turning a nice card in to a great card. The Star of David is much more of a focal point and so is the greeting. Great job!
I agree it's fun to see a Passover card! I'm working on my place cards and wine charms for this year's Seder. I like the changes you made. I also stay away from pastels for Passover cards, I don't want them to look like Easter. If I'm using pastels I try to pop it w/one bright or dark thin border on one element. I like the idea of cameo coral and blue they are complements on the color wheel and will pop. If you were going to stay w/the banana and bliss blue I would have used a red/violet color like marvelous magenta, orchid, or eggplant. Fun card!!!
