Default Military discounts?

I saws another thread about discounts and it got me to thinking. What companies do you know of that offer military discounts? I know that www.pebblesinmypocket.com offers free shipping to military on all orders over $25. That is the only one I know of. . .

This is a great topic. They don't even have to be papercraft related. Huge help. I know the Halloween Shops do, but ask 1st b/c they might be on a store by store basis.

Marco's gives a military discount in the store, but I'm not sure about online since I live so close. They recently changed their discounts, though, so I'm not sure if they took that one away or not. It's a very patriotic store, though!

Here is one for families that have a member deploying - www.oplove.org - free photo shoot before the deployment and then at the reunion.

It is not exactly a discount but is a wonderful program for deployments.

We also just started getting a military discount on our Alltel Cellular bill - - - makes me want to ask for a refund for all the years they said they didn't have a military discount......

I also ask almost everywhere - - - - I would love to see tons of posts here.

Our ocal Home Depot and Lowes definitely give it -- 10% on anything over 10.00. I had to buy some appliances during dh's last deployment and they gave me the discount on those. I also ask everywhere. We aren't near any active duty bases, so it's not as prominent a discount as other places. Also some local restaurants near the National Guard base and the Air National Guard base give free lunches to members on Veteran's Day/ 9-11/ Pearl Harbor Day, anything to do with veterans.

I look forward to reading other replies!

They best you will get on-line is FREE SHIPPING. But in person you usually should get 10% discount from about 80% of places as long as you ask and show proof(ID CARD).
I know we have gotten it on Dinners, Hotels, Car Rentals, etc.

Lowes and Home Depot differ store to store and some only do it on holidays. I got ticked off when I went to Lowes...just down the street and bought about $100 and asked for the discount and they said they did not do that anymore. The one down the street from my parents...also did not do it (I live in KY and my parents in FL).

I know our local auto parts store does. It's called Riebes (NAPA) and it is not a standard discount. You get the part for a percentage over cost. For example, I went in to buy a carb rebuild kit for my DS's truck. The cost was $54. When I showed him my military ID it was $37. THAT is a nice discount. They now get all our business and it has been a lot because we bought my teenage DS an old truck and he and DH are rebuilding it.

Alot of the shoe stores give 20% also.

I know that this isn't the type of discount that was being discussed, but I think it is certainly worth noting. I just received this from my Family Readiness Support Assistant.

This is very good news for folks that are sending care packages to APO/FPO addresses! For the first time ever, the US Post Office will be offering a military discount on shipping to APO/FPO addresses when it's new, larger flat rate box becomes available in March. The new flat rate box is larger than the others they have now, measuring 12x12x5.5". It will cost $12.95to mail or $10.95 if it is sent to an APO/FPO address. To order the new flat rate boxes (available in March) and other prepaid supplies go to the USPS website: www.usps.com.

God bless our troops!
