Metallic Finish Cardstock
Got a cheap source for gold and silver glossy cardstock? Die cutting for Christmas devours it.

I like mirricard from Marco's paper. The small scan of each color is awful so don't go by that. The picture is better but doesn't show all the colors. Not really sure how the price compares with other places but you have options of getting 1, 12, 50 or 100 and the prices does get better by volume.

Yep, I probably will go there. (Wishing now I hadn't gotten rid of my old cardstock sample binder from Marco's)
Thanks.

Metallic poster board! Hobby Lobby carries it in several metallic colors. 20" X 30" sheet for $1.19, and sometimes they have it on sale 2/$1.00. Can't get much cheaper than that! They have matte gold, and glossy in gold and silver, as well as other colors. I used it exclusively last year for my gift tags. It diecuts beautifully!

Thanks so much for telling us about this! I love the metallic look and would never have thought of looking in the art section for poster board.

Just wanted to follow up on my last post. I did go to Hobby Lobby this afternoon and bought the metallic cardstock on sale 2 for $1.00. I got 2 each of gold, silver and red. What a super deal! This is a nice weight for die cutting or using punches for embellishments and is just beautiful. The sheets are HUGE! Can't believe I got them for only 50 Cents each!
Thanks to uncbballfan and to craftyduo for the heads up on this!

Great deal! I bought $6 worth of the poster paper. Once they are trimmed down to something easy to store I will wish I had bought a lot more.

You are sure right about that. I'm thinking about going back for more. I have a Hobby Lobby close by. Sigh, the accumulation of supplies is just endless, isn't it.

Oh wow. I just picked up poster mirror card myself today at the local stationary-and paid quite a bit more and still thought I was getting a deal! I always want a mirror card that is actually reflective/I cant see myself and I could in the silver and red.
Good to know about HL! Thanks!

Ok so how do we cut down poster size? By hand? Eek. This is why I got trimmers! Maybe I can jockey it on the guillotine....

Gotta tell you a funny - sometimes (many times) my brain just does not seem to work! I bought 12 sheets of the metallic poster board and was thrilled to get it. I put it flat in the trunk of my car. I kept thinking to myself....where am I going to store those huge sheets of posterboard?
It absolutely did not occur to me to cut it down until I read GypsyRoseStampers post about trimming it down.

If I cut them down, I cut them into the approximate size of my cutting plates, about 6 X 8. I don't measure.

Another option is to use regular cardstock, and coat it with a metallic paint. I like the Lumiere metallic acrylics - I'd bet spray paint would work well too.

Take it to an office supply store. They'll usually cut it down to 12 inch lengths that will fit inside your guillotine trimmer, and then cut down to storable sizes. Usually those charges are pretty small. I learned that trick from Jennifer MacGuire - and now take my reams of card base weight (110 pound) to Office Depot to let them chop it for A2 size cards. Saves lots of time and card blanks are ready to go.

They will do poster size? Cool! Thanks!
I may just try to do this on the dining table. I have to see how to best cut it to get the most out of it. Though I love using mirror scraps to die cut words.

If you have a rotary cutter that you use for quilting--you can easily cut strips from the big sheets. I cut 25 A2 card size pieces from each big sheet.--Then shared with daughter and granddaughter. I save the Hobby Lobby ads from the newspaper as a trip to HL is 180 miles round trip. The ads repeat every few weeks so I go with a list.

I didn't appreciate having a HL within easy driving distance until I moved from IL to FL. Now I have a JoAnne's and a Michaels less than a mile from each other (in an area where I shop often since Sam's Club is across the street and my favorite restaurants (ChicFilA and Sweet Tomatoes) are in the same outdoor mall area but the nearest HL is at least 30 minutes away in two directions. I love HL and prefer shopping there to either JoAnne's or the M store but sadly (or maybe lucky for me?) it doesn't happen often.
At any rate, I do love the metallic papers! I have a Carl Cutter which doesn't get a lot of use but it is huge and I suspect could easily handle cutting the poster size paper, it will cut 12x12 cardstock on the diagonal which for some reason seemed to be a great selling point when my UL was telling me about the Carl but I sure wish I had gone with the smaller size cutter. It only comes out for REALLY big jobs like holiday cards and convention prep and I make sure to check twice and cut once as you can ruin (or at least miscut) at LOT of cardstock fast with the Carl cutter!

I agree totally. I bought some the other day and was very happy with the way it cut. I had seen that a blogger, Becca Feeken (Spellbinders) always used it but I just forgot to buy some. Also, I got a variety pack of gold, copper, blue, rose and green there as well. It was in same area as poster board and was about 18x20 size.

I picked up some of the metallic gold and silver poster board at HL when it was on sale and cut it down with a razor knife on a cutting mat. I am using it for my Christmas cards - embossing with a 3D Christmas folder. It looks great.

If you don't have a Hobby Lobby near you Dollar Tree has poster board in metallic. They don't sell it in the individual sheets but in packages. You get like silver, gold, red, blue, green. I think there is another color. I am not close to my art studio at the moment to take a peek. It cuts beautifully too.
I forgot who but a YouTuber I was watching one day also bought metallic poster board at Dollar General. Family Dollar might have it too.
