Default Mat for reg. A2 size card?

Hi-

I am having a problem cutting my cardstock to get a nice 1/4 inch border around the base of an A2 card. What are the dimensions you use when layering that first color of paper/cardstock to make it fit nice and even all around the card? thanks

If you make 2 cards from an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock, that comes out to a card that is 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 when folded.

I make my first layer 4 x 5-1/4, which leaves a 1/4 inch border all around the edge.

and if you have a focal image that you want to matte, just cut it wider and longer by 1/4 inch.

4-1/4 x 5-1/2 = A2 card
4 X 5-1/4 = mat w/ 1/8 inch border
3-3/4 x 5 = mat w/ 1/4 inch border
