MamaK's SU vs GP white cardstock SHOWDOWN 2005! *updated*
Answers are on page 2 of this thread
Alrighty, here's the deal.... submit your votes for A B and C.
choose sample 1 (the left one) or sample 2 (the right one) for each of the images below. You are picking which sample you think is BEST of the 2.
Example: A1, B2, C2 or whatever. Those are totally just random answers, so don't read ANYTHING into those
These were all stamped with the same images, same ink, same stamper, everything, so this should be fairly "scientific"
I will post the results tomorrow

I pick A2 B1 and C - I can't tell a difference so I'll say C2 just to be different. The colors on C2 are a little deeper but who knows. Thanks for doing this mamakimberly!

US and GP are two types of cardstock....
there are references on scs that the Georgia Pacific (GP) cardstock at walmart is just as good as the Stampin' Up white cardstock (ultrasmooth white, or usw)
So I'm seeing if people really can tell a difference

My votes for the best go to the following:
A2
B1
C2
These all seemed crisper. Of course, feeling the paper in a dead giveaway since SU paper has such a velvety feel to the touch!

I think you all are getting the point the Ultrasmooth is A2, B1, C1
I wish you could see IRL the elephant.... that real rust looks RUST on the usw and looks OFF color on the GP! The mellow moss trees look SO much nicer on the USW too!
You guys were DEAD ON on the first two though!
Plus, on the GP, I couldn't get the elephant as "fully" stamped... it just doesn't want to pick up all of the detail.
Go SU!

C2 but they're really close, almost a tie for C. At least at 10:00 pm after a long day of being a dance mom!

I would say:
A2
B1
C2, although they are really close!
What a great experiment!!! I bet irl the difference is even more obivious.
Like my mom always says...you get what you pay for.
Although I will say, that my 6 year old likes stamping on the GP paper
Probably just because his mommy won't share the 'good stuff'

a2, b1, c2. This is such an interesting argument. Thanks for trying to make a point. This is sooo much easier to see in person though!

Go SU! |
how neat!
another thought to add after seeing this; if you do a lot of stamping and want to save some money, use the US from SU when you do 'whole' or background stamping and use the GP when you do outline stamping
Just a suggestion, as I don't have either paper! ;o)

Mama K you are such a little rouser. I could clearly see that A2, B1, and C1 were the US white. The ink is just smoother and with C1 the really rust looks rust. On the other paper, it looks tabacco.
Thanks for the demo.

Oh Cool! I picked right before I saw your results!!
The C is a little hard to figure since it is a more stipple detailed design & we are looking at it via a computer screen and not the real thing. I know everyone would have gotten it other wise. Once you said you used Really Rust, you can really see the difference in color on the other.
A & B are VERY obvious!
Thanks for reminding us all again MamaK how great Ultrasmooth is!!
