Default Making your own envelopes

I am curious as to what type of paper everyone uses to make their own envelopes.

I have used my Cricut to make envelopes for the Triangle Trifold cards (does an amazing job). However, if I use cardstock - the envelope seems thick. If I use plain white paper, it seems too thin. Am I being picky?

Thanks for your input.

I made envelopes out of patterned paper, lots of the big paper packs I've never used for anything else. I'm going to make as many envelopes this year as I can, I have lots of paper.

I make envelopes using either paper from The Stack or 24lb white copier/printer paper.

I use #24 linen, silk or laid paper to match my cards. I use either of these types for the base of my cards also. Colors either natural, cream or ivory. I want my card and envelope to match one another.
