Default Make and Take?

Okay, so I'm still kinda green....I keep hearing about demos doing "Make and Takes." What the heck is it? I have just sent in my demo paperwork today (yea!!! ) and I plan on being a hobby demo. However, I am curious about the make and takes. The only reason that I'm shooting just to be a hobby demo is because I don't know anyone else in my area that stamps and I don't have the room to have parties at my home. I was curious if a Make and Take would be something I could do, if I find potential customers.

I use make & takes for all my demonstrations. Just design a card or a gift bag or something that is fairly simple, quick to make and yet still a lovely finish and then cut all of the pieces necessary for several people to make it. Part of your demonstration will be you showing them how everything works and the other part is them actually USING things. Hands on sells! And, they get to take what they make home with them as a sample or however they want to use it. It's one of our gifts to them for attending the demonstration.

If you have any questions, or need any more help you can e-mail me at [email protected].

GOOD LUCK! I'm mostly a hobby demonstrator too although my husband informed me last night that I need to either have it as a hobby or a business so looks like I need to get my booty in gear!

Make & takes are the hands-on projects you do at a workshop. It gives guests a chance to try the products before buying and shows them that they really CAN do it!

Congrats on joining SU! Once you get your demo ID, be sure to sign up for the SCS demo user group -- it's a wonderful resource!

Even if you don't have room at your home, you can still have a show, just make it a book show - that means, you lend your catalogs to your friends and family and they choose items and you put all the orders in as a show. You could do this to boost your sales on your first order - We once all met a Mall and stamped at the tables by the play area - you never know who may be passing and ask you for your business card. Really you don't need a lot of space to stamp with friends at a show - you can stamp with four people at a time, while the others are ordering or looking at samples and the catalog - really, you could do it in a tent, if you had to. What surprised me, was that not one of my friends had ever mentioned stamps, scrapbooking or card making and now we meet every month and stamp together and our group grows with each meeting. Good luck with your demonstratorship - welcome to a fun club!

Ohhh..... (that little flash of light you just saw was my light bulb coming on).

Okay, I just couldn't figure it out. From some of the things I read it sounded like a project were I stamped and cut everything out, and sent people home with the parts to put everything together on their own. I kept thinking "were's the fun it that?! I thought the point was so they could stamp and create?!"

Thanks for the info!
