Looking for card/card front donations for deployed soliders :)
My hubby is leaving overseas in July :( with the 1-25 unit here in Hawaii. I am very proud of him he is the platoon leader (1LT) for the B company. As part of the wives club we are trying to get little packs of cards 2 or 3 for each of the 200+ boys so we can give to them so they can send thier loved ones when they are deployed! Anyone willing to help by sending a couple old card/card fronts (I will mount them!) that we can give to the boys! ANY SENTIMENT is fine and needed There is no major rush these are not needed till July and we will hopefully do another load in Dec for x-mas cards so if now is not a good time maybe next time or if you want to just continually send them until then great! I will have plenty of alone time to sort them with him delpoyed! Thanks a bunch for anything you can send I'll collect them all mount those that need it sort them and get them turned in!
Any ideas with a cute way to give them are appreciated too (I was thinking just giving them the cards with the envies tied with a little ribbon with a little card saying a donation from someone who cares and wants you home safe GODSPEED any other ideas?)
You are welcome to include a signed card with a personal message of good luck etc and they will be sent to a random solider in the unit (proably a single one since poor guys get less mail)
Thanks a bunch!

I'm new to stamping and my cards are not *works of art*, but I have six cards and envies that will be coming your way. If you find them suitable, let me know I will make more for you.

I'll see what I can come up with--all for a very good cause! Tell your DH thanks from Ohio for doing THE job!
As for packaging them, maybe put whatever you do (I like tying them with a ribbon) into a plastic baggie. It's very sandy over there--some of the stuff my DH brought back with him is still gritty with fine particles.

are these for them to use or to send to them? I have a bunch of samples, RAKS that haven't been written in...let me know. If you are wanting to send them just for their use, these would be perfect.

Former Army helicopter pilot wife checking in!
There's nothing I wouldn't do for the military guys - and I have a soft spot for helicopter pilots, crew chiefs & AO's! ;)
I'm on it!
I know the guys in the unit will appreciate them as much as who they send them to.

We are going camping over the Memorial Day weekend and I planned to take a few stampin' projects to work on so this would be a great time for me to make up some cards for ya. Does it matter if I send multiples of the same card or do they all need to be different? Also is there any particular sentiment that you know you need? Is there something maybe you don't get many of? I know my DD(10) will want to make some too. I hope it's okay. I could have her write a little note to the soldiers.

That would be Fantastic! I would say most needed would be thinking of you, miss you, love you, happy b-day, least needed would be holidays but I will take what you are willing to give! That is so sweet your DD will help I am sure the note from her will be a sweet touch!
I actually remember that. We talked about it once before...seems like forever ago!
My DH flew the previous version of the D. He flew OH-58's. No cool spy dome on top of his! ;)
We were in Germany for 3 years and he never saw anything more than a month+ of training out in the field.
I feel for you.
I also know you're not fond of Hawaii...maybe you could go home for a while?
I totally know how you feel. The enlisted guys in the unit were the best. Most of the officers were married w/ kids so I felt obligated to take care of some of the single enlisted guys. They were like little brothers!
We were always doing things for the troop when they came home from the field to make things as special as we could, so I understand where your heart is and I'm happy to help!!
If the unit needs care packages you have to let me know!!
((HUGS)) to you!

Not fond of is putting it mildly! ;) I will be taking frequent trips home but becuase we own the home and I don't want to chance a renter ruining it I am stuck here more time then not. Plus I have 2 furry babies that need me here!
Good news is that I fianlly got involved in the FRG and met some wonderful people so I will have a great support network while they are gone!
Love the single boys! We have a weekly dinner at someones house where the wifes take turns cooking and the boys come to get a real meal it's way fun every thursday. It is nice to do something for them. I will let you know if we need care packs... they leave in 2 months.
Hi there!
Too many familiarities in this thread, how can I resist? Hubby was in 25th ID, I am from Hawaii, he went to Iraq 2 years ago, and we did the same from Fort Lewis. In other words, COUNT ME IN! I will gather up a bunch of older swaps from convention and send them to you asap. Take care!
Aloha,
Joni

WOW! Funniest thing is we are hoping Fort Lewis will be our next stop! They are reflagging the 25ID into the CAV so there will no longer be a 25ID here. Happens June 6th in the AM.
Thank you EVERYONE for helping me put this all together!
I heard about the 25ID thing. They just moved a division from Ft. Polk over to Fort Lewis so I hear it is quite busy now. But at least it's right up the road from Cali! I liked being right up the coast from HI. The tickets were so cheap to fly home and the flight was all of 5 hours. *sigh* take care! They will be in the mail asap...
Joni
Aubrey,
I went through my stash of all cards that I didn't make and a few I did. (I feel guilty if I send a card I didn't make, since people know I make 'em). I'll be sending you an envelope full. I'm including a few card fronts I chopped off from cards I received...too pretty not to recycle ;) I'm including envelopes too. Thank you for doing this, it's the least I can do for our military. I wish Godspeed to your husband and his troops.
Thanks to all our Military families! :-D You are angels on earth.
Update: Mailed 40+ cards w/envies Wednesday, May 24th from my little tiny NC town. :-D
I would love to send you some. I have several from swaps - I'll pick out the very best for these guys and send them next week. Hugs to you while your DH is gone. I'll also have my monthly Hostess club make a few and send those in June. You are very kind and sweet to do this.
Aubrey, I was just thining the other day that I need to thin down all the cards & cardfronts I have. I will be more than willing to send them to you. What a great cause!! I'll get them together & they will be on the way!
I've got 40 cards with envies picked out. I'll make the ones that are card fronts into cards and some of the samples need a sentiment, which I'll add. Thanks for helping me find a good home for these.
