Default Looking for alternative to tag topper punch

I love the idea of SU's tag topper punch, but I don't want to spend that much money (plus tax and shipping) for it.

I'm shopping around Ellen Hutson's site and found this die set. I realize it's for creating pockets, but do you think it would work to create decorative tag tops, too?

Or maybe you know of some dies designed to do exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for any input,

I think the set from Ellen Hutson would give you lots of variety for your tag tops. Just cut your tag the width you want and cut the top with the die you like. Very Cute!

I have the Avery Elle die set and it works perfectly for what you want. You would just have to punch your own hole.
There are videos on youtube showing a variety of ways to use the dies made by the gal that designed them. Sorry, cant remember her name.

You can use any existing die you have. Create your tag and then stick just the top part in your die and cut. I do this a lot and have gotten a lot of cute tags doing it this way. Stick the top part on top of the die and put the bottom through the die so it does not cut. Have fun.

I've always used my dies to make the tops of tags using this technique. It works great and you don't have to buy any extra dies or punches.
