Cool

I am so bummed.

Worked for several weeks on a baseball scrapbook for a silent auction, fundraiser for a high school baseball program, that my grandson"s will eventually play in. My scrapbook from two years ago went for a good bid, so I made this book even bigger and better.

Not one single bid. A lot of people looked at it, commented how great it was, then looked at the Kendra Scott jewelry right next to it, and moved on.

So, I ended up buying my own scrapbook. Money for a good cause, book is ready for pictures, so it's not all bad. Just have to think up something else for the auction next year. People bid and paid $100 for a peanut butter cheesecake. I mean come on, a darn cheesecake!! Even for a fundraiser I would not pay that for a cheesecake.

I am really sorry for your disappointment. As a scrapbooker I know how much works goes into a book. How sad that a $100 cheesecake was bid, and nothing on your book. Sending hugs.

That is such a shame!!! People don't understand the time, effort, or cost that go into these things!!!
$100 for a cheesecake? That is absurd!!

I feel your pain. People just don't understand the emotional energy put into these projects. Not just time and money.
I hope it was fun to make at least

I enjoyed my time working on the book, and this weekend my grandsons sports pictures will be trimmed and placed. Next up are Valentine cards, and work on my daughter's baby book. She will be 37 in March, so I want to get it finished. The only way to organize a scrap/sewing room is to finish stuff up, and move on.

What is everyone planning for Valentine's Day?

I will be making a baked goodies tray for my CT department, dipped pretzel rods to hand out to my ER bunch, cards for the family, and try my hand at decorating some sugar cookies. The grandsons always want cash, so they are easy.

This is the first year (in 13) that I am not working in a preschool. But I do still have my Cub Scout boys. Not sure what I am doing for them yet.
My kids (11 and 14) are past the Valentine's party stage As for my family, we don't really make a big deal of Valentine's. My hubby usually has to work. In fact of the almost 16 years we have been married he has never been off.

A few years ago I old my dh to meet me at a restaurant near his office on Valentine's Day. I brought a nice white tablecloth, flowers, candles. The servers were so nice to help me clear stuff of and get set up. I usually work evenings, so we did have a nice lunch, and it was fun. Got to grab the moments when you can.

Taylor that sounds really nice.

My husband works at a prison 6 PM until most days until 10 AM. Then he comes home and crashes until he has to get up and leave again.

We usually celebrate with a family dinner on a different day. The last "date night" we had the kids were very young.
Now that I don't work, we have gone to lunch a few times, usually something quick.

My son works for the prison system also. That boy had to grow up fast, is a Sargeant now, and is a take charge guy.

My daughter found a cute graphic online to use with those squeeze pouches, so I made up 20 for her and she tied it around the neck....it says, "will you be my main squeeze?" My grandson is in daycare so he can still get away with that! He is 2-1/2 and he is my second main squeeze!

My daughter works for the state prison system also. She was a parole officer but now is a case worker...when another position for parole officer opens she will apply for that again but this was the only way she could move to the prison she is at now.

Cute idea for the pouches. I remember those daycare parties.

I baked two chocolate cherry cakes for my husbands office, got my Valentine cards in the mail. February is almost over, and I set my items out to start on Christmas crafting.

Cool

Father's Day is up next. I have my order in on the new SU catalog, have my Christmas cards planned, and have the stuff for a cute snowman project stashed away in a closet. The summer heat will have me hibernating, so this is the time to get things done.

Christmas eve will be here before we know it.

Yup, I need to start making some cards so it is not a mad dash at the need of the year. Hot here today in the middle 90's. Had fun yesterday with our two grandson's.

I travelled to Australia/New Zealand in June, then home a few days then off to NYC for the 4th of July fireworks. That was an experience. 30,000 miles in 30 days. I am behind in home chores, and card making. East Texas is getting a lot of rain, so we cannot mow the grass fast enough. looking FORWARD TO FALL.

I hear you about the grass! I went away for a week with Boy Scouts. Rained 4 out of 7 days. Came home and everything grew! Sunflowers bloomed, corn is at least 6 inches taller and the grass is crazy!!

I found a cute online boutique, Cheeky's. Saw some earrings that I know some of my sweet nurse co workers would love. I got a discount code, so made them very reasonable price. A sack with earrings, couple of Christmas cookies and cards, they will love them.

Keep your eye out for deals, make the holidays easier to deal with.

It's also super hot right now where I live, so I'm totally thinking about winter and Christmas projects. Fondly recalling what it feels like to need the heater on in my craftroom LOL.

Also feeling the crunch time.. combined with not wanting to miss out on these beautiful bright sunny days though!
I started working on some gift card holders yesterday. Trying out one of those pop up designs from years ago, where the card stands up when it is opened and gift card pops up.

I like making my cards early - but I also like to see what the Spellbinders small die of the month would be for Christmas. Wish they'd send the holiday dies out two months in advance.... LOL Over the years, I've learned to do one theme... makes it so much easier to mass produce.

Making cards tonight. A retired co worker is terminally ill, very little time left. She wants no visitors, on a feeding tube, so no casseroles. Basically all is left is cards. Trying to make them bright, pretty, uplifting for different people in the department to sign. It's been hard for me, getting a different message, color scheme. So will work on it tonight. We are trying to send at least two cards a week.

Bed &Bath has a good sale on, lasts through tomorrow.

I am making fabric baskets out of gingerbread fabric, some spicy foaming hand soap, gingerbread cookies, and coordinating Christmas cards will fill them up. Cost is about $5.00 a basket, so pretty reasonable gift for friends and co workers.

I have got to get to work.

Ho Ho Ho!!!!

The Christmas deadlines are causing a little stress and anxiety for me, when you make most of the gifts there is always so much to do.

But it will get done, family will not be disappointed, friends will be thrilled.

Ho Ho Ho!!!

My first two shows were very successful! I have 2 more shows to go, the next 2 Saturdays. I an working on some new items for these 2 sales. These shows are smaller so I can kind of feel out projects and see if they are going to be popular. I also did M&M Sticks for the first time at my last show and I sold over 50! I made more for the next sale and posted photos on my Facebook page and got 4 orders! So I had to make more. That's a good problem to have!!

Here are some photos of new items. Mini tic tac holders (tic tacs from Amazon. Tweaked a tutorial from PaperPixie)

Two types of Peppermint Patty holder

M&M sticks

Lol Sounds like a shirt my husband would have!!
Still working on craft fair items. (Just realized this wasnt that thread oops)

The Dr put me on meds that gave me horrible dry mouth. I have tried all of the remedies and stopped the meds months ago. I had stopped it once before because it was causing problems with my teeth but needed to go back on it. Well.....I broke another tooth! 😡 Unfortunately I also grind my teeth which is bad. So anyway I will be making another appointment today. Prior to the meds I had ONE cavity. Since the meds I have had multiple cavities, 2 root canals 3 broken teeth and an extraction!!! My brushing habits havent changed if anything I am more diligent with it. The dentist told me I am doing everything right. I started wearing a mouth guard at night to prevent grinding. I am so tired of this.

In the meantime my son who had surgery in October now.has to get a machine to "wake up" his quad muscle. Not covered by insurance.
Tuesday my daughter who switched to a (free) Charter school in August which offers a Liberal Arts education and college courses and smaller classes (graduating class is about 75. Previous school was 600+). She only switched because they told her she could do Allied Health in 12th grade. She found out Tuesday that they do not offer transportation to the school and she needs to have her own vehicle. She doesnt even have a license!!! So next year I will be driving 30 minutes each morning to take her to the Technical school wait 2 hours and take her to the high school. It isnt an option to carpool with her friend who is also taking the course because some days one goes to one hospital while the other goes to the other hospital! The one hospital is about 45 minutes from my house. I am thankful that I am already a stay-at-home Mom but.... it is going to be a big inconvenience. But then again I am not going to make her miss out!

Sorry just had to vent.

Oh my, what a lot to burden. Always feel free to vent. Medical expenses are exorbent, and does not help that it's right here at Christmas. When I had to take my grandsons to sport practices, I lived 45 minutes away, so I would bring a plastic case of cards I could glue together, needlework. A few times I brought a pillow and blanket, set my phone alarm took a much needed nap.

I have 147 weeks to retirement, I am counting down by the seconds.

Ho Ho Ho

LOL I have a pillow and blanket in my car. Since my son is still having issues getting around after his knee surgery I take him back and forth to school each day. He gets out earlier then the rest of the school so he diesnt have to walk far to the car and so he doesnt have to fight the dismissal rush. School let's out at 3. He is dismissed at 2:50. I kid you not if I am not at the school by 2 PM I am the 15th car in line at pick up!!! It is ridiculous! So I get there at 2 and I am one if the first 4 cars. I recline my seat snuggle up and take a nap while I am waiting! Let me tell you I wake up refreshed and ready to go!
In the warmer weather I plan on going fishing while I wait! The schools are not far from where we often go fishing.
The biggest issue is going to be the cold winter months! Brrr

Good luck with your retirement count down!!
