I have been missing in action for a few weeks. I am training to be a Cat Scan technician, and boy it is another world than regular x-ray.

I had to force myself to make Mother's Day cards, but I made some extra for my new co workers. I have 10 more weeks of training, than I will be on my own.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am old, set in my ways, having to deal with younger technicians, been a few tense moments. But they have learned a few things from me, and in a few weeks I will be back in my comfort zone, working by myself. I feel when I am by myself I am in good company.

Father's Day is close.

And I bought a Christmas gift over the weekend, and have it stashed, got it 60% off.

Nice! I went to Michael's not long ago and picked up a few things for my Christmas closet. I have 6 sisters-in-law and 8 nieces and we exchange small and/or handmade items so I'm always on the lookout.

I've been working on some stuff for a craft fair in November and, by extension, Christmas gifts. I don't usually do craft fairs but this is a stash busting technique for me this year. I have a lot of extra supplies from past gifts I've made, so I'm making up items with all of that to fill my table.

So far, I have file folder folios (the tutorial is in the tutorials section here on SCS), post it note and calendar fridge magnets, bottle cap magnets, magnetic grocery lists, spool ornaments, some card sets. Coming up are some little magnet boards, candle holders made with canning jars, DVD tin albums and K cup holders.

Working on covered notebooks. These are inlaid butterflies. Some have RSVP pens, while others have staples brand and include matching cards and envelopes. Three more days of work until my summer off!

For storage I take a dowel, glue on a wooden bead on one end, put the ribbon on. Then glue in a bead in the other end. I have them hanging on my wall with curtain hangers. Not sure that is what they actually are called. It is a bracket that comes out from the wall with a u shape on the end.
I make a lot of items for craft shows and I go through a LOT of ribbon for the shows. I normally buy the ribbon at big box stores and pay a LOT more. I was getting big rolls (100 yards) at a local "warehouse" but i was paying $14.99 a roll. My most expensive roll was 100 yards of satin ribbon for $5.50.
It may last me 2 possibly 3 years making stuff for craft shows. I usually go through at least 5 or 6 rolls a year of just red.

Gotcha! Clever idea. I have mine in gutters but the amount you hve would take MANY gutters.

I ordered from Gifts International Inc
Gifts International Inc - Gifts and Packaging Online Store

If you have someone to share ribbon with you could go halfers! As in you order white, they order red, and split it. Then you have both colors!

CT training is done, my schedule is now settling down a little. DH told me a couple of months ago he wanted to plan a little "get together" for co workers, friends and neighbors. Well, "little" has turned into a big Texas barbque, 60 people invited, band has been booked.

Nothing is little in Texas, so every spare moment I am dusting, deep cleaning, and spent 4 hrs cleaning my scrap room. All the women like to look at my room, and it was a hazard area. I filled a 55 gallon trash bag with crumpled paper, scraps, broken birdhouses, junk, and other paraphanelia. It was good timing, now rather in good shape for holiday preparations.

I AM READY FOR COOL WEATHER, COME ON FALL.

Hey Mary,

I hope this party will come together well, I am doing baked beans with pineapple bits, cornbread salad, marinated veggie salad. I have a dessert recipe I have always wanted to try, it involves jello, twinkies, and cool whip.

DH better help with the clean up.

Gina,

So sorry about the sick family, seems I always had a sick kid at Christmas.

Thanksgiving is in the bag, now lets get rolling for Christmas.
Anyone got ideas? My friend and I got together and stamped
yesterday, we are doing card packets for gifts for our mammography
co-workers. Got to make each card 16 times, and each packet will have four cards, envelopes, and matching tags, more than halfway through.

Now what to do for everyone else?
And I wish I had started in July.

Hi Patrice!
I'm making the November 2016 Paper Pumpkin cards for my Dad to sign and send out to a few relatives. He lives in Assisted Living, he has Alzheimer's. I know my aunt's and uncle will enjoy receiving a Christmas card from him too.

NicholeC LOVE the boxes!!!!!

Everyone is feeling better here!

I have 2 more craft shows the next 2 Saturdays. Son is supposed to work the Christmas Tree sale for the scout troop he is moving into soon. 3 or 4 3 hour shifts between this weekend and next. Oh and then there are 2 science fair projects due on the 6th! Daughter has Drama club every day after school. Cub Scouts tomorrow and Son has an after school program that is supposed to be "Broadening his Horizons". He gets home at 6 PM each day.

And I just let my son do his science experiment in my kitchen. He stood on my counters and dropped raw eggs from about 8 foot! And....it was fun!!!!
