ok, the holiday push begins. This is my first day back at work after 2 week vacation. trip to NYC, then a cruise to Nova Scotia, Canada, Massachusetts, and Maine. I would love to be retired, but I have a few more years to go before that becomes a reality.

What is everyone making for holiday gifts?

I didn't know you were in NYC! We could have met up. I hope you had a great time.

I'm about to start my Christmas cards this weekend. It's the earliest I've ever started them.

Like Scrapjanny I'm starting to make my Christmas cards. I'm teaching my girlfrend how to make a double tea bag holder. Tutorial on my blog Sunflowers & Dragonflies Blog Archive How to Make a Tea Bag Holder

Rather than adding a stamped image (she's not a stamper), she is adding a Christmas broach on the front of the teabag holder. Then she'll add two teabags on the inside.

I'm going to make my annual sets of personalized notecards for the gals in my family. Here is a sample. I used a cute CB folder I had with an owl on it. It doesn't show up too well on white in the scan, but here it is. Really cute in person:

The next time I got to NYC, it will be by myself, so I can go and do and see as I please. Dh is not real big on seeking adventure. Then I can meet up with Splitcoast people, and have some real fun.

I feel for you, Patrice. I've been married forever, to a wonderful, sweet man, but a good traveler/tourist he is not. I could tell you stories about being in great cities, and there he would be, watching a football game on the hotel T.V.!

I just finished 25 little Christmas tree shaped cardstock triangles, following a tutorial by Brenda Quintana, found it on Pinterest. Hersey Christmas trees, I followed the directions, and got them done. My last Christmas party to do for the grandsons. Homeroom grandmother not planning to retire anytime soon.

I'm very proud of myself. I shook off the after-Christmas slump and got busy and made 36 Valentines for family and friends. Also crocheted quite a few dishcloths to go with the cards! Hooray for me!

That is great Bugga!
I am still stuck in reorganizing and trying to declutter. Some things I don't need anymore and would give to charity but don't want them to end up in garbage by sorters who don't know the value!
I could sell but it is sooo much work to sell items. I just know people out there who craft that would love them but it's so hard to match your selling with the right buyer.

I hear you, Diane. That's my biggest problem in getting rid of anything I don't need or want anymore. I just hate the idea that good stuff will be wasted!

I have some craft tools/items that I would love to pass along to another crafter, but the postage to send them to anyone would be prohibitive to me on my fixed budget. None of my friends are crafty, so things tend to just accumulate in my room.

Diane, like you I've been busy organizing my craft room. After going to several retreats throughout 2015 and never putting anything back in its place the room went unused for most of the year. I took the last 4 days and organized it to boot! Now I know where everything is and it actually inspired me to start on my Christmas and birthday cards. Very happy that I'm already way ahead this year 😄

The boys are now 10, and 11. They eat like government mules, and they are the first I call when I have trouble with my cell phone.

Bugga, put the word out, some local crafters in your area might meet you somewhere to relieve your craft room. I got rid of four rubbermaid tubs of
old Christmas ornaments, garland, tree toppers. And I scrounged in the storage room and got another tub in the trunk for Goodwill. Dh never cleans his closet out, and gets upset when I do, so to keep the peace every two months I take a couple of old shirts off the hangers, mix them in with my Goodwill mix, and he has never missed a one of them.

I am a sneaky, devious person.

Patrice, your trick with your hubby made me laugh. I have to do the same thing. My husband doesn't even want me to get rid of my own things, let alone any of his. I have to do all the weeding out so he can't see what I'm doing, and then hide it when it leaves the house.

It is so hard to throw craft things out because you know you will need it as soon as it is gone!

But our craft stuff is not clutter, vital important tools that we need to produce our lovely works of art. At least thats what I tell the family.

III went looking for some embellishments today and realized I took them to Goodwill. Sometimes we purge too quickly. Hubby is similar to many; he ripped a sock today. I missed throwing that one out! Hoping I can figure out how to take pictures with my kindle of my mini bags and box sets. Have 4 more to decorate. It has been a great way to use up 12 X 12 DP.

Hi ladies,
It is a little impossible to start at the beginning of this thread & read it all the way through, so I just started with the last page. I'm hoping to start making a few Christmas goodies each month, and I hope this thread will hold me accountable. I'd like to make 5 cards per month, using my older stash of paper so I can get rid of it.

Sounds like you all are ready to start Easter crafts. What are you all making?

I saw on pinterest a Easter basket made with the dollar candy boxes glued together to form a basket, then filled with other goodies. But that is a lot of candy, so I am thinking of maybe something else. Also little burlap bags with bunny faces drawn on, tied at the top, with burlap ears.

Doing a few Christmas cards a month is a great idea, I always try to do a few in July, just to take my mind off the Texas heat.

Is there somewhere on here to sell items? If the recipient paid the shipping it would not be a problem, right? I take my stuff to the scrapbook garage sale at my local scrapbook store. All you get is credit to spend at the store, but they do all the work: staff the sale, collect the money, advertise, etc. You just bring your stuff and put it out on the tables. I think of it as "trading up"; getting rid of items I won't use for new items I will use. I also find fantastic deals at the garage sale. I tried to sell stuff on craig'slist but it didn't work for me.

Hello everyone!!
It has been a heck of a few months!!!
My hubby got me a Scan and cut 2 for Christmas. Now in all the years we have been together, he has never gotten me anything "good" for Christmas, birthday etc. Well I tell you, he hit the jackpot this year! Now granted I told him I wanted it, but with a $250+ price tag I didn't think he would go for it...but he did! Can I tell you how much I love this thing???????? I stamped out 28 flowers. Normally it would take me maybe 2 minutes to cut each one by hand. The Scan and cut 2 cut all of them out in 4 1/2 minutes! That's from the time I loaded the cardstock in until I unloaded it. It is going to cut my prep time into like 3rds!!!!
