I have people buy multiples (6-25) all the time. It only costs me about 25 cents each to make. I love making these purses.
I think I will put a lip balm inside and tell people they can add a gift card if they like. Plan to sell for $4. Think that's too much?

What do you embellish the front with? I don't have the scallop oval punch to match my oval punch. I would still like to put something though.

Well, some horrible person in our IT department has blocked this site on my work computer. Boo, hiss on them. And with working so much overtime trying to keep up with the monetary demands of our legal case, I am just not stamping, sewing, or doing much else but work and laundry. Pretty lousy summer, but things could be much worse.

Can't find anything to grab my attention for Christmas gifts, I keep looking though.

I hope everyone has a great 4th holiday.

Cool

Got the binding sewn on for daughter's t shirt quilt. One Christmas gift in the bag, almost. Trying to keep busy helps diverting my attention from our legal battle, it looms on, and I am to the point being nice is no longer an option. So I will sigh, and start working on a table runner for Christmas with all those fat quarter sets I ordered from SU for 99 cents.

Oh Patrice, hang in there. Hopefully things will start looking up for you. If you need any of those fat quarters from SU, I ordered a glob of them (what was I thinking?).

I found a cute, easy pattern for a crocheted mesh Market Bag! I'm making many of them in all different colors for the gals in our family. Here's a link to look:

I don't sew...yet. One day, I hope to be able to look at all your sewing patterns and quilting too. I envy those that can do these crafts!
Maybe after I retire...

Mary,

You were thinking what I was thinking, 33 cent fat quarters. And they make pretty table runners. I promise I will post a picture when finished. Diary of a Quilter.Blogspot, easy tutorial.

I am making mason jar sewing kits for the boy's homeroom teachers. Using a SU stamp set that is sewing themed. My evening entertainment. lol

Default Need idea for providing paint to a kid's kit

Hi everyone - I run a Craft Guild that provides crafts for a charity venture that runs a crafts and foods show every year. One of the unique parts of this show is the Children's Room - a no-parents-allowed room where kids 12 & under can go and shop for their friends and relations (and often themselves) for Christmas presents, get them all wrapped up, and pay very little - nothing in the room is more than $3, with most things being 50 cents or a dollar. This room is really a money losing venture, but for this organization it is extremely valuable in terms of community outreach, so we try to minimize the losses as best we can.

We want to make paint by number kits, which requires providing at least 3 little pots of paint and a brush each. Where I live, the cheapest I can get the little pots is 11 cents per pot, which will quickly make this craft very expensive, given the amount we would be charging for it. Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how we could provide paint without incurring costs? Two thoughts I had was to put them into tiny zip-top bags (like jewelry bags), and the kids could just snip of a corner and pour the paint out, but this could end up very messy. The other would be to heat seal off one end of a straw, add paint, then heat seal the other end - they could just snip off one end and squeeze the paint out. The only thing I would be concerned about though would be the possibility of the straw splitting and getting paint everywhere.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Depending how many you buy the price goes down. I figured 3 at 1.79 with 54 pots and it came out to be 9 or 10 cents.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate you doing this research. Unfortunately, since I live in Canada, the shipping costs are exhorbitantly high - they start at $12 and go up from there, so that is not an option. Even if I spend $100, the shipping is still $30! Even if I were to have it shipped to a depot in the States and crossed the border to pick it up (I live in a border city), it would still cost me $15 just to do that ($10 in tolls, $5 for drop box privilege), without the US shipping costs figured into the equation.

This might help if you are open to using other types of paints other than acrylics (isn't that what's in the little pots?) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD7NJ3zF_es using watercolors not Inktense blocks as they are more expensive.

Also don't get hung up on YUPO paper - in the comments Lindsay says "could use ink jet transparencies (rough side) or you could scuff up plastic report covers or the thin cutting boards from the dollar store. Anything plastic with some tooth would be a good palette."

I would try to paint the palette first (in lines), let it dry and then cut rather than having to load color onto smaller palettes.

If you go this route probably want to package it in a baggie to keep it dry.

FWIW I'm not a fan of acrylics with kids as it is permanent on fabric as it creates a bond when dry.

Here is an idea for color by number palettes that would involve watercolor pencils:

Last year I knitted my 18 coworkers oversized dish cloths, wrapped them in green and red ribbon and put a handmade gift tag. They were a big hit. I made more this year and will do them up the same way so my daughter can give to her coworkers.

What grade? One year I worked with the art teacher to have each child in the class do a drawing/painting, signed it with their name and wrote what they liked about the teacher. I then bound it (with my bind it all) into a book for her. She loved it, it made her cry![/QUOTE]

Great idea to make the bound book. One year I took a photo of every child in the class and made a scrapbook for the teacher.

T shirt quilt finished, one Christmas gift in the bag. Now I have at least nine more tablerunners to do, will be wagging the sewing machine with me. If I have a minute to sit, I will be sewing.

And we will be in court soon, other parties are being uncooperative. So our pathetic summer will run into fall. Just ready for this to be over.

Still plugging away on table runners, and planning maybe some little " something" I could make to set out on tables for my 40th high school reunion. I found a tutorial to make a little candy holder, maybe a couple of Ghiradelli chocolates, emboss, stamp, and use some ribbon and a tag.

Maybe is the key phrase here, maybe I will get it done.

It's been a dreary stormy day here in east Texas. Plenty to do inside, still working on table runners and the never ending pile of laundry.

Check out my blog, I posted a fall pumpkin cookie recipe.

My four days off just flew by, wished I could of gotten more done. I brought rotary cutter and mat and got next three table runners planned while at work. The flu has hit my community, so the ER is going to get ugly soon. A new Jo Ann's fabric opened here, along with a World Market. Getting new shopping here, finally.

I spotted a couple of shoe boxes stashed away in the back of my craft closet, and both stuffed with half yard cuts of Christmas fabric. Don't remember buying it. It's like this stuff is reproducing, hope there has not been any " inappropriate behavior" back in my craft room.

Hope everyone's holiday goodies are coming along in a timely manner.

Two class parties done, car unloaded, and now running around the house like a sore headed chicken (popular southern saying). Nothing gives you motivation than the text message from family informing me they will be arriving a few days early.

Ho Ho Ho!!
