I wish I was in Hawaii right now, on Waikiki, with a big diet coke, just enjoying a book and listening to the ocean.

But noooooooo, stuck in a windowless x-ray room, listening to patients complain about the sorry state of healthcare.

Oh well, just six weeks until my Ireland trip. Wonder how many pounds can I lose before then?

Didnt really make anything home made for Mother's day. Mom is a crafter too, and she says she has too much "Stuff". We went out to dinner tonight at one of her favorite resturants, her, my children and myself. The resturant isn't open Sundays for religious reasons. Shady Maple in Blue Ball, PA. It was really nice, a tradition really.

I made cards, and got them in the mail in time. My kids came by, had lunch with dh, and dd. It was a great Mother's Day.

On Sunday the kids made me breakfast in bed, then they allowed me time (after errands) to do some crafting. It was a good day!

Right now I am working on cleaning out, sorting through, organizing 17 years of Taste of Home magazines, Country Woman, Cooking Light, and a few others. I had one small bookcase, and two whole shelves in my poolhouse kitchen. My dh made the comment "why you keep all this stuff, you don't cook as much, always whining about unnecessary calories". He is right, so I have been going though a few at a time, clipping the recipes, decorating ideas, projects. I am putting them in spiral notebook, the atg makes it quick.
I am seeing daylight, and I took some of the magazines to a caterer, they were thrilled to take them, others I put in the break room at work, told them to take what they wanted.

More shelf space, recycling, it's a good feeling.

Magazines sure do stack up fast don't they??? I took in stacks of my old Family Fun and Family Circle magazines into work (Day Care) the teachers are always in need of magazines to use for collages.

I didnt go through my magazines again....I figured if I hadn't used it yet, I didn't really want it. But then again....maybe I was just being lazy. I still have big stacks of other magazines. But one day I'll get to clearing them out too. LOL

I know the feeling, I have over 200 scrapbooking, card and paper crafting magazines that I have just put in order by name and date and I have listed them all on Kijiji an online sales medium here in Canada. So far though, I haven't gotten a single bite and I have listed them at an extremely low price. I really hope I can get some kind of response.

Just another idea for those magazines you want to get rid of....

Take them to a local hospital. I've been a hospital volunteer for almost 20 years now and we always need magazines for patients and visitors to read. If I can't pull off my address label on the front, I go over it with black marker. And our hospital has labels they put over the address part just to insure privacy.

This is why I don't get magazines anymore, I always want to save them and then years later, it's like what do I do with them?? You can find so much on the internet now.

The only "magazine" I currently get is "Cards". My hubby gets it every year for me. But at almost $90 a year, it is pricey. I always flip throught them a few times. It just annoys me that often times things you see, like sets from various companies, are no longer available for purchase. I mean I know they are cards that individuals make, and not companies, but still, it gets on my nerves. LOL

Our family Christmas celebration is changing - afterr 30 years I will no longer be making and stuffing stockings for 9 family members (my choice - no need to go into reasons why) - so instead of stocking up and making little treats year round, I am rethinking what I will be sending to the family get together.

For my SILs and nieces, part of their gift will be a box of HM cards, matching pen and a book of stamps. Hope it''s happening this year - the 25 days of Christmas gift swap - that I will be sharing with my MIL - she loves getting these and waits to open the gifts each day with her caregivers - and that's something I can work on this summer too!!

For my BIL, I need to create something with a wine theme. I found a notebook with a great wine picture on the cover - and it finally went of sale, so that's there. Not what else could I do? Made a wine cork wreath for them last year.

You have put a lot of work into all these Christmas stockings, and for 30 years to boot. Wine themes are popular now, websites will be a help there.

Christmas will be here before we know it, you are smart to start planning.

I usually do calendars for the grandparents for Christmas. But to be honest I didnt do them for them this past Christmas. My In-Law's were a bit snippy about the calendar (they said "We'd BETTER get a calendar this year") so I didn't make them. (I didnt appreciate the attitude that I was given...but anyway) But I found calendar pages at M's when paper was on sale 7/$1 and they did a bulk buy for me (for the sale price)so I bought enough to make calendars for quite a few years to come.

Easily found here - now isn't that unusual Do you mean the spring clips that you would use for hanging laundry? Our local Longs/CVS carries them. Let me know - I can pop some in the mail for you

I got some of the large clothespins from Oriental Trading a few years ago, I would check there, their shipping is probably a lot cheaper than 4 hrs of driving. I am going to start looking at the galleries, and finding Christmas cards I can make without buying a bunch of supplies, making coordinating tags, and get a jump start on teacher's and co workers holiday gifts. I am going to be frugal this year, I read a article on "leaky hose spending", and it described me perfectly. The closer I get to retirement, the more I scrutinize my purchases.
