Take them to a local antique dealer and they may be able to help you find out how much they are worth. You know the old saying...."they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them".....

I LOVE old mason jars! I have lots of them with both the glass and zinc lids. If you go to flea markets/yard sales, keep an eye open for them. I have never paid more than $2 each for mine.

I love the soap dispenser idea!

Do you use them for their intended use or do you alter yours for a craft?

Love the mini bulletin boards!!

I'm new to the name frames so I'm planning to make a few of those for gifts.

I love the soap dispenser!! Old jars are just so cute!!

I'm hoping to make some type of advent calendar for my 2 grandchildren. I'd like to have them done by the end of November so I can give them at their birthday parties and they can start the count down on December 1st.

Also plan to make some of the post-it note holders out of the acrylic $1.00 frames.

Will be watching for more ideas!! Happy crafting!!

Default Zinc Lids for Mason jars

I just happened upon this thread and since I have boxes of old jars (with glass lids), decided to poke around a bit on the web. I found this site that has zinc lids with holes already cut in them! Thought I'd share just in case someone was interested....

Cute idea - had no idea they made dry erase sheets - but here's a news flash DD came home and told me yesterday - there is actual Dry Erase board PAINT - YES there is!! I had seen chalkboard paint and magnet paint but now dry erase paint -

So now I toy with - do I use chalkboard paint and get those chalk markers (can't use regular chalk indoors, too messy with DS asthma/allergies) - or get some of this dry erase paint to use with dry erase markers - ???

Just thought I would add this incredible find (well, you all may know about it but I was blown away) - in case anyone wanted to use for Christmas projects.

After seeing the soap dispensers, I went to my local antique dealer for jars. He had several styles, sizes, and colors of glass! All with zinc lids. 2 jars cost 13.00, but they are so cute! mine had glass discs in the lids. It didn't hurt the lids to break them out, and they are definitely gift worthy!!

My friend tried the dry erase paint on her son's wall in his bedroom and it was a disaster. It went on well but when we went to use the markers on it, they wouldn't erase. I am not sure what went wrong, but I would do a small test run first.

Hey Mary,

Regionals was fantastic, the room was packed, Shelli Gardner opened the show, had Workshop WOW presentations from demonstrators, some lucky people got free stamp sets. The eight hours flew, and I cam home with a lot of beautiful swaps for inspiration.

Now I want to go to convention.

Cool

I am in my x-ray room, in a less than happy mood. I had put in for vacation days a month ago, supposed to be today, and tomorrow, and the vacation hours were denies. Have no one to cover my spot. No overtime hours can be used for coverage, so I was told tough luck, maybe next time. So all I can think about is my cluttered house, ceramic tile that needs a good steam cleaning, messy stamp room, flower beds that look slightly pathetic, I was going to take care of all those thing on my time off.

Oh well, I have a job, I guess that's all that matters. lol

Just got back from a four day weekend (two vac days) because they could not give me a whole week off. We managed to drive 7 hrs to see my ds,dil, and grandchild anyway. Yes, I was thinking the same thing when I got back - my DH & I both have jobs and there are so many who don't. Keep holding that thought.

Hmmm....sounds like my house...

Do those little steam cleaners really work that well? Have often been tempted to get one.

I still haven't made it to an antique dealer yet. This is one of the jars I have. I made up some recipe cards and added a dish cloth. Thought about making a bunch for the crafts shows. What do you think someone would be willing to pay?? canning jar and recipe cards by dhb1281 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I bought the Eureka steam cleaner, and it is okay for a quick clean up, I have cream colored ceramic tile. It cannot get in some of the tight places like a mop head can, but I think it was worth the money.

I am sending in my time off request for my trip to London next March, five months should be plenty of time.

Hey Jo,

This will be my first trip to the UK, so any shopping tips will be appreciated. I want to get tickets for one of the WestEnd musicals, so I am scanning the internet for ideas. We are excited about this trip.

Hey Jo,

That was going to be my next question , the show tickets. Fantastic. Is there any special place a group of nine of us could celebrate my daughter's birthday? A fun restaurant? Any ideas? Hard to plan since I have never been there.

you might want to look here too even if you book with the other site - Theatremonkey.com I booked through them when we lived in Oxford and we had great half price tickets for Phantom.

The Original Hard Rock Cafe is a little out of the way but fun. Planet Hollywood is nearly on Leicester Square. There should be some great Chinese and Indian restaurants in the area as well (we didn't bother)

Just a word of caution - in general American travellers can be very naive and easily pinpointed. I've never had any problems but I was always well prepared when travelling there.

Thanks for the reminder about Blade Rubber - I'm very tempted at the moment...

BTW - I don't have any great Christmas ideas but I have been cricutting all day and still have plenty to do. And these are just for my "mass production" cards and none of my one off Christmas cards... YIKES!

Jo,

Thanks so much, now I have to make my mind up between Jersey Boys, or Les Mis. We may not have time to make both. And we will be cautious, but if anybody messes with us, they will find out what a east Texas butt kicking is. To some of the native around here, that is what they call entertainment. lol
