I got some sun while I was in Florida, but I hit the tanning beds a couple of times before I went. Key West is not known for their beaches, I was at the pool a couple of times.

It's winter here now so I'm staying warm for the next few months, I'm not in a snowy place though nor one that gets 'really' cold, but winter is winter and it's colder than summer.

I've been doing some scrapping and trying my hand at making all sorts of boxes with my scorpal

I saw this in the Craft Show Best Sellers thread here on SCS. It would be a great idea either for a creative display at a holiday party, present for a bride, or even a display at a Bridal Shower. The options are endless and since you make them yourself, you could do varrying heights and everything. It's cake stands made from plates and various "stand" parts - like candle holders, treat bowls, etc. Here's the link to Etsy

I have a cake plate was was handed down from hubbys grandma, it's 2 tiered, has cute hand painted roses, very sweet and old worldish, it stays in the china cabinet.
But I did go out and buy my own glass version, thought of making my own but was sure I'd crack my plates during drilling. They are great to use when table space is needed as it goes up, they look very dainty, a great bridal gift.

Cool

I did a mosiac class, where you break up china pieces, them glue onto wooden bases, and grout over the china. I did a wooden cake stand, don't know what I did with that thing, the class was expensive, need to get it out.

And those cupcakes are beautiful, great ideas.

It's gonna be a long hot summer in east Texas.

Uh, I dunno. But it is 31 days until the 4th of July, so summer will be half over. Then another 30 days until school starts. Then the football season starts, and Thanksgiving decorations will be in the stores, black Friday, then Christmas.

So see, it will be here before you know it. lol

HO HO HO, we gotta get projects started. I looked at a magazine today with some ideas, but that's as far as it got.

Hey Mary,

The half pieced quilt is in a box, Granny died at age 101, in April. I wish I had started it a few months earlier. I will find some use for it, maybe make a small doll blanket for great nieces probably.

Where is Cindy? I noticed she has not been posting.,Hope everything is okay.

Hey Mary,

I hope none of us live to be 101, but I am so grateful my grandmother had strong family support around her, advocates for her care, and she died at home, no ICU, buzzing machines, a hospital that would drain the finances.
Great grandchildren came and sang at her bedside just a few hours before she died. Peace and quiet when she left, may we all be so lucky. I will pull the quilt out in a few weeks, I got a few rows done, will put it to some good use.

And the blog looks great, love the blizzard ideas. I have to plan a Ironman birthday party. I thought about getting some plates, use the puzzle pieces punch, make a puzzle, make a game out of it.

I hope if I have anymore grandchildren, they are born in the fall, or winter, when it's cool. Birthday parties in July, Aug, in Texas are brutal in the heat.
I just know my children will take that under consideration.lol

Patrice, I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother. It sounds as if she was surrounded by love before she passed. That is a wonderful thing.

Here's a cute idea, I'm sure you could adapt it for a boy. She made a felt playhouse using a card table for the structure base. The best part you can fold everything up and put it away.

http://lifeofamodernmom.blogspot.com...ble-house.html

I'm finding some cute blogs on daily "linking parties" here's the link to the master list (scroll down to find Wednesday's):

Enjoy!
